In the SC GOP primary an Indian-American Female missed the GOP bid by 1% at 49% of the vote.

Yep, the GOP is racist. ;) You've got a handful of idiots in the GOP along with the Dems, but most folks see past it.

The fact that this is shocking or noteworthy says all it needs to say about the GOP.

Just look at the representatives in Congress.

GOP has 4 minorities. Democrats have 74.

Not surprising - it's no secret that the majority of blacks identify more closely with the Democratic party. The New Deal and Great Society under LBJ cemented the relationship. I'd hardly call it GOP racism, just an identification with big government.

Those numbers weren't just blacks. They were blacks, hispanics, and asians. GOP has zero blacks in Congress.

The New Deal was in the 1930's... when large numbers of blacks were in the GOP (the party of Lincoln). The shift came in the 1960's with Civil Rights legislation. Southern Democrats against Civil Rights legislation left the party for good. Minorities joined.

Images like these are why blacks left the Republican Party in droves.

A good synopsis....

Again, KY, I wouldn't expect to see a lot of black GOP representation when most don't identify themselves as Republican anymore. The causes are pretty well documented.

Yup. Civil Rights Act.

From your link:
Even after that, Republican nominees continued to get a large slice of the black vote for several elections. Dwight D. Eisenhower got 39 percent in 1956, and Richard Nixon got 32 percent in his narrow loss to John F. Kennedy in 1960.

But then President Lyndon B. Johnson pushed through the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964 (outlawing segregation in public places) and his eventual Republican opponent, Sen. Barry Goldwater, opposed it. Johnson got 94 percent of the black vote that year, still a record for any presidential election.

The following year Johnson signed the 1965 Voting Rights Act. No Republican presidential candidate has gotten more than 15 percent of the black vote since.

The republican party has fewer minority members than the donks. That's a well-known fact.

The implication in the OP is that minority candidates have a harder time winning primaries in the republican party than in the democratic party, and there's really no proof of that. I'd bet you that well-funded and well-qualified minority candidates are just as likely to win republican primaries as they are democratic ones.

If their opinions are at least half of what dominated the Republican party now, they will lose 99.9% of their campaign not matter how well funded or well qualified they are.

A good part of this can be attributed to gerrymandering but that doesn't change the validity of your point.

Didn't something like 97% of the black vote in 2008 go towards Obama?

Seems like that could be "racist" as well.
