Snowe and Collins are honest, decent, hard working legislators.

Collins is one of my favorites!

How deeply was your tongue planted in your cheek for THAT post?

Of course I am not completely satisfied with Senator Collins' performance. She is frequently a disappointment on key issues and votes, but I respect the fact that Collins cannot vote the same way a southern Republican can vote and still be true to her Maine constituents, and I do not think she is personally corrupt.
I do think that Collins and Olympia Snowe are more valuable in the Senate than nearly any Democrat, and that both are capable of improving their voting performances under competent conservative leadership.
To her credit, Senator Collins stood up for continuing to interrogate the Christmas bomber, and I thought she led a reputable rear guard action against the porkulus by getting it reduced by a hundred billion or so before passage - kabuki theater, perhaps, but better than nothing.
