My Southern mother raised me to judge people based on the content of their character and to be absolutely color blind.

Years later she came to accept many unfortunate black stereotypes based on her numerous direct and personal negative experiences as an apartment manager and as a foster mother.

It is what it is. We need to get over the emtionalism and ignorance of labels and race politics to discuss the realities of black families in America, someting like what Bill Cosby talks about. The evil legacy of slavery still binds us all. :ohno:

The dirty open secret of a stereotype is that there is often a grain of ugly truth buried in the middle of misconceptions and falsehoods. Regardless, every individual deserves to be judged based NOT on superficial appearances or gropup identity, but on their own merits.
