OK. Way up since Memorial Day too. :?

My only point was to note that the market crash portended by this thread never materialized. That is all. Of course, I guess the Dow could drop 1,000 points a week for the next four weeks, but I'm guessing it won't. ;)

But do I get credit for the worlds longest "Thread Fail" ..?

You get credit for an epic thread, period. :thumb:

If the polls had not shifted so dramatically away from the Dems and toward the Repubs since you initiated the thread, your prophecy most likely would have come true. :(

I took you pretty seriously... Glad I was too lazy to sell my stocks...

I did. I made a lot of money on it and sold it. Don't get greedy Jeff - it could be back down to $100 a share very quickly.
It could also hit $500 a share pretty quickly.

Bummer you sold it so soon........ :(

The right shoulder failed to fully develop, though it did partially develop. The head and left shoulder did develop in a classic H&S pattern. You are a moron for not recognizing that -- and a lot of other reasons, as well.

By the way, the S&P 500 p/e ration is well above 20 right now. The last time I mentioned a high market p/e ratio, you laughed and the market tanked soon after.

Intersting article:

If Congress doesn't extend the tax cuts, the capital gains rates go from 15 to 20% starting Jan 1.

Potential for a huge sell-off to lock those gains in at 15% come December 15th when options start expiring.

The only reason the market is as high as it is, is the money the large banks got from the Fed in return for their toxic assets has been used to buy equities. Just look at the P/E ratios. They are at unsustainable levels. Once the banks see the sucker money come in (as it is now), they'll simply sell off and leave Mr. Small Investor holding the bag. Fools and their money are always soon parted.

I still think by year-end the market will be in trouble.
Dow up 600 points.

Still too soon too judge? Maybe we should move the goal posts back another three months. Perhaps by Spring the market will tank.

I was always the pitcher, and that gal who lived down from me back in 1994 who was always drunk and covered in her own piss was the catcher.

S.&P. Closes at Highest Level Since June 2008
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: April 26, 2011

Shares on Wall Street are closing at their highest levels in nearly three years because of stronger corporate earnings and a lift in consumer confidence. The Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index, the benchmark for most mutual funds, closed at its highest level since June 2008.

Better-than-expected earnings reports from companies ranging from airlines to office products manufacturers helped drive a broad stock market rally that included all 10 company groups that make up the Standard & Poor’s index. Industrial companies gained nearly 2 percent, the most of any group.

The Ford Motor Company reported its best first-quarter earnings since 1998. The carmaker topped Wall Street’s earnings estimates with stronger sales of new vehicles. Ford shares rose 0.77 percent.

And with those lovable oil companies expected to (again) report record profits tomorrow. But hey, gotta keep those subsidies in place. :|
