Given the disaster the first two years has been it's no surprise the secrete president hardly appears in his own 2012 campaign commercial...which doesn't even list any accomplishments.

His race does play a role in my thinking on the situation in that I know that people classified as members "under represented miniorities" get consideration for things like elite school admission that people who are not members of such groups do not get.

So we have a guy who gained admission to Columbia then to Harvard Law School. Now, if he were White or Asian that would tell me that unless he was a "legacy" and that got him in he would have to be among a fraction of the top 1% in terms of standardized test scores, etc. But he is a member of an under represented minority group so that raises the possibility that his standarized test scores were not nearly so impressive as that.

And I can't just look at his standardized test scores directly because I can't find any of them on the web (as opposed to George W. Bush and Al Gore, for instance, as I could find both of their SAT scores on the web).

I saw one estimate of his IQ based on the average score on the LSAT for people gaining entry to Harvard Law School. But, again because he's a member of an under represented minority group, that's not even close to a valid approach. At the very least one would have to just take the average LSAT scores of Black students gaining entry to Harvard law. And that would just give you a very imprecise "estimate" because we can't assume he was at or above average in that group.

Bottom line: He has an Ivy League education, but I don't know if he'd ever have gotten into an Ivy League school if he were not Black. If he were White or Asian and was not a legacy (as GW Bush was) I would be very confident that he probably among the top 1% in the intelligence distribution because a non legacy White or Asian would have to be that smart to get his shot. But a Black doesn't have to be. He has to be smart, but not THAT smart, to get in.

Unlike Bill Clinton. Didn't like his approach to government but he was a poor or lower middle class White child of a single mother from Arkansas who ended up getting a Rhodes scholarship and getting into Yale Law School. Don't agree with him, but I know he's super smart.
