Well, Perry was only "serious" for about 10 days...

He had the lead in the polls... so did Bachmann... both of whom represent that movement. (so does Santorum, but he's been down in Kucinich country in the polls)

I'm offended anytime someone claims to be a Christian and then comes out with an offensive statement like Perry did. Christianist is every bit as offensive as the word Islamist. Lately, I've noticed candidates have pretty much forgotten that they can't just change things just because they'd be the President, even if they have Congress' back. They should really acquaint themselves with these guys:

I'm talking about my son being ostracized by the other STUDENTS. He's one of about 4 conservatives, yet can't voice his opinion...I just find it interesting (and a little sad) that a group of kids who REALLY know what bigotry is all about are practicing it themselves when it comes to political persuasion at this school.

An innocent Christmas party for 2nd graders is harmless, IMO. I think there needs to be common sense.

I agree it's harmless. I helped organize an easter egg hunt at a local business a few years ago and my kids elementary agreed to pass out fliers to all of the kids. After we printed the fliers they said we had to strike the name "Easter" and use something along the lines of "Egg Hunt" or else they wouldn't distribute them. The reasoning was a fear of lawsuits.

It's unfortunate that we can't have these things anymore but there is some validity to it. I wonder how many Americans would take umbrage with the idea of a Ramadan Feast at their kid's school? And of course we all know about the war on Halloween.

I went to Catholic and Public School (only for 3.5 years). In bnoth, we had Christmas, Easter and Hanukkah. We had sedars and learned to love and tolerate others.
And that was during the mid 1990's!
