Of course this doesn't include the thousands killed by gunfire in non mass shootings in the same time period, those one or two victims at a time are no less important than any other victims. However, it is the mass shootings like yesterday that get people talking and the events that will lead to change.
So what would your plan be? Don't say gun control, we've heard that. What does that mean to you?
Does it mean that we follow Australia's lead? Does it mean that we make laws that people who get guns illegally won't follow begin with?
What does it mean?
I don't know what the perfect plan should be. But it needs to be discussed and acted on. Should it mean a complete ban of guns? I'm not saying it should. But it should be a lot more difficult to purchase guns in this country. You shouldn't be able to go to a gun show and buy guns without background checks, you shouldnt be able to go on craigslist, set up a meeting and buy a 50-caliber sniper rifle.
Can there ever be a perfect plan? Probably not. Can legislation be written that can make the United States safer from mass shootings and any shootings in general? Yes.
The NRA and Second Amendment supporters need to come to the table and be willing to make concessions, surely we can agree the world we live in today is vastly different than the one that the Second Amendment was written in.
