I didn't say it proved anything more than Zimm got caught lying. I don't think that they will be able to prove 2nd degree murder but once he's established as a liar the jury is going to be a lot more skeptical of the rest of his story. Like the part about getting his head smashed into the ground. Note that his professor said that not only did the Zimmster learn about the stand ground law in that criminal justice class he was the best student in the class about it. But they still have to prove him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. And so far, I don't think they have come close to that. Heck, the prosecution is almost done calling their witnesses, and overall, its gone badly for them.
