There's no doubt they eat better than the Army. I was TDY at Corpus Christi when the Bell Helicopter depot was there. Ate seafood and steak all the time, while back at Ft. Polk it was dog shit on rye straw three times a day because the fucking cooks were selling all the decent food down town.

True in a way, but it would be a mistake to think that the Somalis are quaking in fear of the US military and that we can declare "Mission Accomplished". They weren't scared back in the 90s and they ain't scared now. Christ, there was even some peckerwood vice-admiral on NPR today talking about how we're more than ready to take it to them on the ground.

Well either the captains and crew of every ship that has been hijacked are incompetent or more likely the pirates are sneaky bastages who approached the ship when it was most advantageous (i.e. dark) and climbed the sides of very large boats (i.e. so large that the crew couldn't monitor all points all the time) and surprised the crew.

Your second point is probably the truth. The ship is over 500 feet long - almost two football fields, and had a crew of 20. Hard to defend...
