There are those who are so afraid of the world they can't go pee without being fully armed. I really feel sorry for them. Paranoia is not a good thing.

P.S. CID.....IMO the gun left in Target was placed there by an anti gun left wing nut bar so a child could be harmed and they get a news story out of it.
Problem with your theory - do the anti-gun nuts even know where to buy a gun? Would they piss their pants just carrying it?
Yeah...THAT'S the problem with his theory. :jack:

I'd mention the compensation issue, but alphie gets a little sensitive when confronted with the truth...

Of course not.

The open carry people do it

1) because they can

2) to throw it in people's faces

3) for attention

Mind you, they do this in large corporate stores like Target because they know it will cause a stir. If you walked down to some mom and pop hardware store open carrying nobody would pay you any mind

So what's the point? Just to bring attention to yourself? I honestly don't get it. As Father Cleetus likes to say "explain it to me like I'm a child" because to me this just seems like one of those things where people want to look 100% like the fool rather than having other people guess at it.

CID1990 wrote:Interesting how some stores will put a ban on guns and it causes such a hoopla- it really is PR and not much more for a few reasons:

1) the stores cannot pursue criminal charges against someone who carries into the store unless the state law allows them to do so. So if they catch someone with a gun, they can put them on trespass notice and tell them not to come back (AND STAY OUT OF THA WOOLWORTHS!). So if I REALLY felt the need to carry in Target I would do so. If I am carrying a PROPERLY concealed weapon and now showing it off like some yahoo then nobody will know I have it anyway.

2) Criminals are going to carry regardless. The gun in SK's article was almost 100% for sure ditched there by a criminal who may have thought the police were on to him

Its really much ado about nothing, and I support private businesses' prerogative to disallow firearms if they so choose. It really doesnt make them any safer, but if they feel it helps their business then have at it.

The POINT isn't about making them "safer"
The point is that the people with children (Families) walk out of the store when a trove of GUNS ARE COOL band strolls in for an in-store-parade

Its bad for business

They just don't want anymore in-store PARADES
when the nut-balls clear out the store

Some people in Richmond are losing their Sh!t over these people walking down the street in a mom and pop business district. Pretty sure that's Neil Patrick Harris in disguise on the right (probably research for a role he's playing somewhere), maybe Bandl in the middle, and BDK on the left.

And, in other open carry news.

Yesterday the Safe Carry Protection Act went into effect in Georgia.

Whoops.
First day of new gun law leads to arrest
Dean Poling
The Valdosta Daily Times

VALDOSTA — On the first day of the new Georgia Safe Carry Protection Act, a misunderstanding between two armed men in a convenience store Tuesday led to a drawn firearm and a man’s arrest.

“Essentially, it involved one customer with a gun on his hip when a second customer entered with a gun on his hip,” said Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress.

At approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a call regarding a customer dispute at the Enmark on the corner of Park Avenue and North Lee Street.

A man carrying a holstered firearm entered the store to make a purchase. Another customer, also with a holstered firearm, approached him and demanded to see his identification and firearms license, according to the Valdosta Police Department report.

The customer making demands for ID pulled his firearm from its holster but never pointed it at the other customer, who said he was not obligated to show any permits or identification.

He demanded the man’s ID again. Undeterred by the drawn gun, the man paid for his items, left the store and called for police.

Authorities arrested Ronald Williams, 62, on a charge of disorderly conduct, related to the pulling of a weapon inside of the store, according to the VPD. Police confiscated Williams’ weapon and took him to the Lowndes County Jail.

The police chief said no one can demand a person to show their gun permit. Under the new law, he as police chief and his officers cannot demand to see a firearms permit, Childress said.

“This is an example of my concern with the new gun law that people will take the law into their own hands which we will not tolerate,” Childress said.

Was in a newer Walmart SuperCenter in S NJ yesterday near where spent the night. Been there a # of times. Nicest Walmart I've ever been in (out of several doz) by far. Never any of the stereotypical "people of Walmart". Just as nice as the Target 6+ miles up the road (which I've also been to) with the SAME clientele. Now in lieu of going to that Walmart SuperCenter, I could have gone 6+ miles up the road, 13 miles roundtrip out of my way to the Target, paid the same or more for the same stuff, then had to stop at a (union) grocery store on the way back, paying more for the same stuff. Would have been more time and more $$, and maybe a greater risk of having your credit card compromised to boot. Something I'm sure you snooty liberals would have done. :dunce:

I also refuse to do online business with anyone in Illinois New York California etc because of their gun laws and I don't want a penny of my money supporting people that choose to live in those states.

Just this last week I have done over $125k in online purchasing so don't act like that doesn't hurt.

Great. Now I can feel smug about always liking Wal Mart better than Target.

I'm not a big "gun" guy. But, good GRIEF, talk about an unnecessary thing to do. Nobody who wants to be a threat while using a gun is going to care that Target says please don't bring a gun into our stores. It's purely pointless symbolism.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
