Close to $700 a month...

Then you have to pay 8K out of pocket before deductible kicks in and covers things.

That was the best "private" insurance plan that existed when TBH and I were forced to switch last fall.

Damn.

Meanwhile, a sick infant is one of the saddest things I've seen. Poor kid.

When mini-Lenz #1 was in and out of the ER 5 times in 6 days and then spent 2 nights in a hospital last July it was by far the worst experience of my life.

If I'm sick, or TBH is sick, it sucks but we can fix it and verbalize what's wrong. With kids it's a guessing game and if you're guessing wrong you're screwed. The fix for her was extremely simple but it took the worst week of my life to get to it.

Also, really looking forward to paying full price for birth of mini-lenz #2 this fall....yep.

Meanwhile my wife has done therapy with people who have had 4 or 5 kids taken by DHS but their reply is "Oh well, I'll just have another one because it won't cost me anything"

It's pretty fucking bullshit.

We're self insured. It's $1900/month for two adults and two kids. When it was just me and the boys and the wife purchased her own insurance there was no co-pay and the deductible was $1500 for all three. The wife came on board after Obamacare, the premium went down a little ($200 compared with what the three of us and she payed combined before), we now have co-pays and I believe the deductible is per person although I'd have to check.

Ibanez story sounds off to me as well.

Last year, a sick visit was a $20 copay.

Today, it's $90 co-insurance.

They used Obama Care as an excuse to raise your rates  And you fell for it.

The insurance world is bullshit :) I have clients with all kinds of varying insurance coverage but for those without insurance at all they get a sliding scale rate and I basically work for nothing. I'm assuming this Dr visit was similar to this type of situation.
