Talking about inflation and the eventual devaluation of the dollar, someone posted this link to this "blovel" on the Geauxcowboys.com messageboard last month. It is all just fiction, but once I started reading it, I couldn't quit until I finished.

P.S. I can barely pay for my own health insurance right now, so I guess when I go bankrupt paying for everybody elses' that can't afford it, someone else will have to pay for mine. That's if there is anybody else left with money to pay for it. I'm sure when inflation kicks in from us overspending and printing money, everything will cheaper, right??? But I'm not concerned, I'm sure the government will take care of me.

It all seems to come back to reliance on mid-east oil: cut that back and we can cut our half-trillion dollar defense budget in half, kiss the mid-east goodbye, and afford the kind of health care for ourselves that we provide for our elected leaders. This is what I don't like about Obama, he is not attacking the root of the problem. If we gotta build nuke plants, we gotta build nuke plants, hopefully we're smart enough to do it right this time.

I have a question, I have family members that are an x-ray tech making 86K a year in Fresno and another that is a RN that makes over 100K a year. Since health care is being taken over by the government will they all take big pay cuts. I also have a couple of friends who are doctors, 1 in Australia. He said the residents make more there than in USA but the doctors here make a lot more than those in Australia. He's moving back to the US to make more money when he's finished his residency.

This all sounds great in theory, but I'm in the "wait and see" crowd. I like the idea and support it, but we'll see how it goes in action. If it works, great, in theory it has more pros than cons. If it doesn't work, scrap it. Other things that can happen include AZ's worst case scenario rants on this thread, and you could probably find an equal amount of people to wager on those too. Doctors salaries dropping, quality of health care dropping, taxes increase, national debt increase, etc. If Americans are angry, there will be a mass vote out this fall and maybe congress will do something to stop the health care bill. I assume throughout the history of the United States, congress has never passed a "No Takesy Backsy" amendment?

I don't believe Democrats have been pushing the bill as covering everyone. Certainly the leadership hasn't. Because IT DOESN'T.

Whether the CBO estimates prove accurate, who knows. But if you want to call this an "investment,' we still do not have the money right now to make this investment.

Frankly, this is like investing on margin because your broker tells you that a stock is going to return 100% of your investment over a specified time period.

Even if the CBO estimates are a good bit off... let's say 50% off. That's still $600 billion in savings. Sounds good to me.

But I do know that legislation that is designed to help control costs...that looks at the insurance industry only without looking at Tort reform...is terribly faulty legislation...
