THERE it is...

Dumbocrats call for DOJ investigation into group that filmed the murderers confessing a "for-profit" motive...

http://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/24 ... parenthood

...claim the filming was a violation of California law.

Huh! Yet, nothing is said when Peta surreptitiously films food processing workers and supervisors making damning statements, and the clips are later used on TELEVISION COMMERCIALS targeting the food processing industry...

...oh, yeah, I forgot.

Nice opinion piece here...

http://www.bostonglobe.com/opinion/2015 ... tory.html#
“We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that,” says Nucatola, “so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.” She talks about properly trained abortion doctors using ultrasound to ensure that forceps don’t damage organs destined for sale....

As a matter of law, Planned Parenthood may be on solid ground. But it isn’t illegality that makes this video so scandalous. It is amorality. It is the nonchalance with which Planned Parenthood’s senior medical director schmoozes, between swigs of wine and forkfuls of salad, about dismembering a healthy unborn child and selling its parts for “anywhere from $30 to $100” apiece. It is the sheer indifference to the enormity of destroying life in the womb and then “donating” the wreckage for money.

But it's also the insistence on describing what PP is doing as selling or even worse (in the case of the knuckle draggers) "selling for profit" that's completely unnecessary. The questionable morality of the practice is strong enough on its own without embellishing things.

I'm disappointed. Planned Parenthood and NARAL assured me that abortion is a very difficult decision that isn't made lightly and that no one thinks having an abortion is no different than killing yard weeds.

Chizz has his pants around his ankles when he reads more about the four women...
Janne Robinson is a poet, writer, bushwalker, idealist and animal activist currently residing on Vancouver Island. She cuts kindling with her teeth, eats Bukowski for breakfast and makes the habit of saying the word feminist as much as possible. She surfs naked, pees in the woods, and loves whiskeys that swing their hips when they walk and know what they are doing. Janne's life's work is to be transparent. She makes a living off hanging her dirty and clean laundry out for the world to see. Her mission is to give others permission to also walk and exist with the same transparency.
Renee Bracey Sherman is an award winning reproductive justice activist and the author of Saying Abortion Aloud: Research and Recommendations for Public Abortion Storytellers and Organizations. She is a writer with Echoing Ida, a project of Forward Together that amplifies the voices of Black women thought leaders. Bracey Sherman’s work on abortion storytelling and reproductive rights has been featured on BBC, The Guardian, EBONY, Salon, Fusion, TIME, and The Atlantic. Bracey Sherman holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Cornell University and currently sits on the board of NARAL Pro-Choice America Foundation.

But, what abortions should be illegal?

All?

Only to protect the health of the mother?

Treat illegal abortions as murder? Manslaughter? Minor misdemeanor?

Forgot to list that one too as a misdirection.... unless you're saying we're now in agreement that abortion is wrongful death. Many people don't agree on those definitions and subsequent punishments for adult deaths, but that doesn't prevent them from being a crime.

I don't see how it's misdirection.

If we're discussing the legality of abortion - how is it misdirection to discuss what happens after it is illegal? Or what illegality even means? :?

I'm not changing the argument...I'm providing context.

I've already stated that I don't give a rat's patooey about the abortion issue arguments. In my view, if a woman wants an abortion, she should be able to have an abortion.

If you believe, and I don't, the fetus has rights that trump the mother's, then Gannonfan has already put this argument into perspective...the timing of a fetus being able to live outside the womb will become irrelevant. Science will be able to keep a sperm and egg alive outside the womb, so any rights for a fetus, if the rights of the fetus outweigh the rights of the mother, will begin at conception.

But what you are not believing is that it will stop there. It won't. People will be held responsible for their behavior leading up to creating the fetus. There will be no other way for the courts to decide. We will be able to trace damage to fetuses to damage to the egg and sperm...damage that will often be as a result of the behavior of the male and female before conception. If you decide to procreate, knowing you might end up creating a damaged fetus with behavior tied to before or after conception, you will be held responsible.

Welcome to the new world.

IMO it's an attempt to add in another facet on which we can disagree to muddy the waters.

We can't get past the root of the discussion: at what point does the baby have rights. If we can't get past that, why discuss the punishment for the action?

No, you weren't providing context. Context to what? The entire rest of your post IS back on topic. The war analogy was smear.

I don't believe it would go beyond conception. Prior to conception, there is no other life in question. Maybe you'd have more leverage if you said outlawing abortion would give rights to babies inside a woman and that could lead to penalties for drinking, smoking, drug use... while pregnant (AFAIK, there are no laws currently in place for child neglect for fetuses). That could be seen as the slippery slope I think you were going for.

BTW, I do believe the baby's right to life does trump the mother's pursuit of happiness. It IS listed first after all... I honestly don't think the order is coincidence.
