I blame the Russians. George Takei thinks so too - he says the Russians may be behind the story of Mr. Sulu assaulting a male model back in 1980. Just saying.

You do realize that, of the first four "accusers," only one alleged Moore tried to engage in forcible sexual contact? The others actually said that he did not try anything beyond a consensual kiss?

Now there are two accusers that claim he engaged in forcible sexual conduct. That's now corroboration of such behavior.

I know. You actually didn't read the WaPo story. :coffee:
I think I read a NYT story.

Oh...so kissing an underage child is ok as long as you to get to handsy? Give me a break. Kissing (like dancing) leads to heavy petting...which leads to sex. That's a bit tongue-in-cheek, but seriously, it's still an inappropriate relationship with a minor. Legal or not...it's got to make you question his judgement. He sought out underage girls.
I see what you did

BDKJMU wrote:How many times have we seen it now when when someone is running for POTUS, Senate, House, Governor, that something that happened decades prior just happens to pop up a few weeks or months before the election? Instead of bring it up years or decades earlier, people wait until a couple of weeks or months before the election. I'm not talking something that is publicly known and new details emerge. I'm talking something majorly negative, out of the blue, a couple of weeks/months before the election. That's not a coincidence. Its smacks of political gotcha..

Why wasn't this brought up during the primary?

Its gotten to the point now if its something that happened decades prior, and its that big a deal, then bring it up during the primary campaign. If its brought up a couple weeks/months before the election, that smacks of politics, and I'm going to tend to discount it.
Because public officials are rightfully more scrutinized than private citizens.

The media, especially papers like the Post, don't have an unlimited amount of resources to dedicate. I also guarantee they didn't look for this story, but that a lead came in which they thought was worth pursuing.

From my time at USA Today, this is typically how a BIG story goes:

When a lead comes in, the editors make the decision if a) the lead is legit and b) how much resources to dedicate to it.

Journalist(s) start doing research which in this case, probably took a significant amount of time. You also need to contact people to interview and depending on how the story can affect them, people often take their time making that decision. Then you have to verify resources can be trusted if it's a particularly important story; that usually involves background checks and/or interviews with secondary people which is another time killer. Then you have fact-checkers review everything. Then you need to write and edit. Then the fact-checkers come in one last time after the article is written to make sure meanings aren't misconstrued. Then the editors approve and publication occurs soon after.

Throw in travel, emails, and all the random administrative stuff that goes into the job...it can take quite some time from when a lead comes in to the day of publication.

Does the process breakdown at times? Sure. But that's why redactions and corrections happen.

edit: and you never hear of the leads that never become a story. I'm positive papers get leads for every big election and in 95% of the cases, they don't pursue it because it's not trustworthy. They probably pursue the other 5%, figure out it's a bad lead and quit on the story 4% of the time, and hit something big the last 1%.

This is why it kills me when people believe Breitbart over the NYT or Washington Post. There's an entire process to the publication of an important story. Papers will even QUIT in the middle of pursuing something when they notice sources and information losing their credibility...but you never hear about it.

Then Breitbart just says whatever the fuck it wants based on a Wikileaks email that anyone can upload...and people think it's real. It's insane.

That's why I stick with Reuters, the most balanced news service. Breitbart, NYT or WP are all severely politically motivated.

Oh I've thought about that in thinking that the left has been bad like that. But that's the thing. When all that Clinton stuff was going on I noted how people who always said "believe the woman" turned on a dime. Even the National Organization of Women.

But at the time I was thinking Republicans wouldn't do that sort of thing. I harkened back to Nixon. I thought that if you had a Republican President in the scenario Clinton was in Republicans would reject him.

But the way Republicans rallied behind the atrocity that is Trump during the 2016 election season disabused me of that notion. With Trump you not only had the sexual misconduct. You had a guy who lied to an extent that made Bill Clinton look like Honest Abe, who had a history of routinely cheating people, and who has serious emotional maturity and stability problems. Just totally destroyed the notion that there is any integrity at all on the Republican side. Not only just as bad as the Democrats. Worse.

Just in case you hear the argument about whether or not the restaurant existed at the time:

http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/45 ... ory-houses
Moore has gone with the forgery defense as a response to Nelson’s allegation. But there really was an Olde Hickory House on East Meighan Boulevard in 1977, proper spelling and all.

Remember, Moore was a democrat at the time..Wasn't a conk until the 90s. What he was doing was perfectly acceptable behavior for a donk at the time. Heck, Clinton, born Aug 1946, 6 months before Moore in Feb 1947, was probably doing the same thing at the time in Arkansas- I bet the age of consent was the same as Bama's...

JSO should move to France. Maybe Moore also..The enlightened French are arguing whether the age of consent should be 13 or 15..

Moore is a racist ? According to whom? What has Moore done that is racist?

Yeah, and they waited 30-40 years and just happened by chance to come forth a month or so before Moore is about to be elected to the senate, no coincidence at all.. :dunce:

A I guarantee you weren't in the 90s calling for Clinton to resign after being accused by multiple women of rape, sexual assault and sexual harrassment..

The only reason you are outraged is because this guy is a conk...If it was a liberal donk you would be:

A possible motive for coming out now is that 1) He could be a Senator...and have more power than he ever has before and;2) the recent accusations against power Hollywood players is making it easier for women to step forward.

Only one of the four original sources was underage. The other three were legal, albeit too young for a 30-year-old.
The 18 year old was a legal adult. The 16 (16 for about a month) and 17 year old were very inappropriate for a 30 year old. The 14 yr old was down right illegal. But all of that shows a pattern and a behavior that should concern a person.

But in our uber-politicized world, we'd rather have a rapist or a pedophile that is in our political party win over someone else for petty, irresponsible reasons. Yay God!

Ah, the idiotic deflection of racists. People that either are too stubborn or too dumb to realize that the Southern Democrats of old (the old, racist guard) started leaving the Democratic Party after the Dems became the civil rights champions, and became a flood after Nixon's Southern Strategy (based on racism).

A woman who falsely claimed to The Washington Post that Roy Moore, the Republican U.S. Senate candidate in Alabama, impregnated her as a teenager appears to work with an organization that uses deceptive tactics to secretly record conversations in an effort to embarrass its targets.

In a series of interviews over two weeks, the woman shared a dramatic story about an alleged sexual relationship with Moore in 1992 that led to an abortion when she was 15. During the interviews, she repeatedly pressed Post reporters to give their opinions on the effects that her claims could have on Moore’s candidacy if she went public.

The Post did not publish an article based on her unsubstantiated account. When Post reporters confronted her with inconsistencies in her story and an Internet posting that raised doubts about her motivations, she insisted that she was not working with any organization that targets journalists.
