As to the future - I'll be dead and gone and at this point I've basically stopped caring what happens. I educated myself in history and the classics and the political thought of the Enlightenment and did my level best to promote those principles.

If future generations want to try socialism at the national level for the 50th time I'm fine with it. As humans we have proven that although we have all the instruction books at our fingertips, we insist on repeating the mistakes of the past. Not out of altruism, but because mostly we hate each other and can't get along. .... But that's a good formula for population control... which is going to be needed when these Wunderkind are in charge. I'm hoping they have more than socialist unicorns to deal with the real world problems that are coming

Actually my impression of Occasional is that she's fairly honest in a bright eyed sort of way (in spite of her assault on mathematics)

I don't think she'll be taken hostage

I think she'll rant and rave and then in a fit of pique she'll either quit and go work for a think tank or she'll run for President
