89hen keeps busting my balls because I refer to hyper-expensive cities as "broken"
but I really think it's ridiculous and I live in one

I just don't think 'broken' is the right word. They are what they are. Don't like it, don't live there. I would argue that a shithole city with bad schools, high crime and low cost housing is far more 'broken' than a city that is thriving so much that it has priced itself out of the market for a lot of people.

FTR, I hate living here too. I'd much rather live in a smaller town. Folks around here are rude and extremely self-absorbed.

If you ever find yourself in Dallas I highly recommend The Col for a short visit and a long conversation...

Speaking of that I'm in Dallas on the week of the 25th (Col are you in town that week..?)

I agree. That's what I love about this board. Hell, someone of us have been around for so long. I started on AGS as a junior in college, 15 years ago.

I find AlphaGriz to be infuriating - but i'd grab a beer with him. Again.

 That's crazy.

I think the first I-AA board on AOL was 1995ish. I was 28 and not a father yet... my daughter is now a college grad... and the Redskins still haven't even made the NFC Championship Game.

Jeesh. It's amazing what we've seen each other through in the years. Marriages, births, divorces, deaths...

Calling you northern scum would be impolite, actually

I’d just keep that part to myself.

But I might find myself a different small town. The one we’re in isn’t small any more

Nobody in DC ever looks back when they walk through a door in public.

People in Slower Delaware will stop, hold the door, look back, and if they believe anyone they can see in the distance will arrive within 30 seconds, they will continue holding the door.

Here's another one I love in DC. When glass double doors swing toward me and I see another person coming from the other side, I will pull the door open on my side, and wedge myself against the wall for them to come through. In DC, the fucker will 9 times out of 10 open the other closed door and not even acknowledge my existence.

I hate DC, if you couldn't tell. I am dead serious that I will never go inside of the beltway after the day I retire.

You know, years ago I investigated the possibility of living in the DC area. I'm talking about back in the 1980s. I went up there for some job interviews. And people were just incredibly rude. I'm not talking about just me. I'm talking about how they treated other people such as people serving them in restaurants and such. That combined with the cost of living issue convinced me that there is NO way I would ever take a job in that area. It really is...or at least was at that time...an incredibly rude culture.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
