Need more public officials willing to call out BLM for what they are.
"To support this movement is to support violence and to openly ask for it to happen in Douglas County. Due to your support of Black Lives Matter and the obvious lack of support or trust with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, please do not feel the need to call 911 for help. I wish you good luck with disturbances and lewd behavior since those are just some of the recent calls my office has assisted you with in the past."

The Black Lives Matter movement openly calls all law enforcement corrupt and racist on their website. They call for the defunding of police, and we have seen how a lack of active law-enforcement has worked in Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon. Numerous Black Lives Matter protests have resulted in violence, property damage and the closing of local businesses, sometimes permanently."....

...Coverley provided statistics on officer-involved fatal shootings and outlined what he described as the “national rebellion on law enforcement” seen during the 2016 presidential year is repeating itself in 2020.

“The tragic and preventable death of George Floyd at the hands of four Minneapolis Police officers shined a national spotlight on bad actors within the law enforcement profession. At the same time, data simply does not support claims that law enforcement is systemically racist or structurally biased. Despite the lack of available evidence to support the anti-police narrative, it proliferates and has spawned radical reactions such as the current calls to 'defund the police,' as well as increases in violence against police—ranging from assaults to assassinations."

Citing FBI data, Coverley said in 2019 there were nine fatal shootings of unarmed black persons – which was down from 38 in 2015 -- and 19 fatal shooting of unarmed white persons – which was down from 32 in 2015. He said those deaths represent 0.1 percent of all black homicide victims and 0.3 percent of all white homicide victims.

The bigger question here should be why the local public library is even getting involved in stuff like this.

It doesn't matter. If you take an oath, you don't intentionally break it. It's that simple. He's either a man of his word or he isn't.
i can see how a police officer/force might unintentionally “slow roll” response to a call from an entity they knew supported that crap.

Why are the riots happening in the first place?

Because an entire generation of kids grew up never being disciplined, always getting their way, never suffered adversity, getting a trophy no matter what the score (or never keeping score), and having helicopter parents who “fixed” everything so they never got told no, never failed, and never had to pick themselves up and go on after getting knocked down and now they’ve manifested themselves into 20-somethings who think they can get whatever they want by screaming and yelling and destroying shit that isn’t theirs and disrespecting any semblance of authority?

There is a group of people in America that feel they are not being treated justly. Protest and riots break out every time evidence of this happens on the public stage. Yes, there are those unsavory characters that jump in and make things worse. But what can we do to resolve this feeling of mistrust from that group of Americans?

By “group of people,” do you mean blacks, Gil? If so, say so.

Assuming that’s what you mean, the answer to your question is: probably nothing can be done to “resolve” it at this point. Maybe mitigate it, but not resolve it. I am rapidly getting sick and tired of these forced “conversations about race” — especially those sponsored by churches — where the only thing the progressives want to hear is a renunciation of “whiteness” and compensation for previous bad acts that I and my family had nothing to do
with. Excuse me, but I’ll sit this one out. I’ll just observe the Golden Rule in my dealings with all other people.

Good post, AZ.

You make a very good point. These children are the offspring of Gen Xers, for the most part. Just like the Boomers handed out participation awards, the Gen Xers have made their children soft. They are entitled little shits that think they know more and are entitled to 6 figure jobs in with their Underwater Basket Weaving degrees. :ohno: :ohno:

  My mom came to visit earlier this week and we were talking religion, among other things. She asked why all 5 of her children, who grew up in a Catholic household, going to church every Sunday and went to Catholic school from K-12 have turned away from religion. What I bolded above was pretty much my response. We had enough religion for 2 Lifetimes and by observing the Golden Rule you pretty much ensure that you're going to be a decent, respectful, kind person.

On the whole, I don't think Boomers are the parents of 20 year olds. They're mainly the offspring of Gen Xers. And maybe some elder Millennial's like myself.

92% of left-wing activists live with their parents and one in three is unemployed, study of Berlin protesters finds

Figures were compiled by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution
Of those arrested for politically-motivated offences, 84 per cent were men
The majority, 72 per cent, were aged between 18 and 29
Of offences against a person, four out of five cases were against police officers

Minorities in general. Most of you have probably been to lunch with minorities. When there's a murder the night before, and they say they are going straight home that night, no going out for dinner or clubs, because they don't want to deal with getting pulled over and questioned, because of the way they look. I've had white friends pulled over after a crime, not because of the way they look, but the color of their car. I don't live in their shoes, so I don't know what it's like for them, but for me, I have no problem being pulled over by police. I't's probably been 15 years since the last time for me.

They claim to be protesting police killings of blacks, but crime stats (FBI, Wa Post, etc) show that there isn’t a major discrepancy compared to whites.

The crime stats are just that stats on police shootings. Do they list the demographics of people being pulled over, and if they are treated differently because of the way they look, or unjust police shootings? I'm not in support of defunding the police, but there are a lot of American's that are treated differently because of the way they look, not just by police.
