So Lenin had a head start, the Russians were already there.
Russia is socialist?
I don't disagree with this but there are some distinctions. I'm going to switch ambition for corruption and greed.∞∞∞ wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 12:44 pmRussia is socialist?
Corruption/greed is what brings down economic systems. Not exactly a bunch of happy people in the US since *checks watch* my whole life. Telling common folk to work harder when they already work hard, have less purchasing powers, and keep falling behind is just the same under capitalism, socialism, communism, or mixed economies (which is what we are).
Unhappy people in the US in no possible way equal or come close to unhappy people in Russia. Comparing the two is as false of an equivalent as you can make.UNI88 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 1:09 pmI don't disagree with this but there are some distinctions. 1) Ambition in a capitalist or mixed economy gives us people like Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk who improve people's lives while furthering their ambitions. Ambition in a socialist society gives you people like Vladimir Putin (and before you say that Russia isn't socialist, Putin is a product of the USSR) who make everyone's lives miserable while furthering their ambitions.
2) The solution to the greed and corruption in the US, isn't to ditch our mixed economy for a socialist one like Bernie, AOChe and others want, it's to fix the problems we have while maintaining the market-based economy with a vibrant private sector that has pushed us so far and improved so many lives.
Please show me a socialist/communist regime that's worked.∞∞∞ wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 12:44 pmRussia is socialist?

UNI88 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 10:53 amI'm trying to understand why Kalm wants them to change their cultural identity and overthrow a dictator. Why is ok to ask this but not to ask people to work hard, speak proper English, have a nuclear family, delay gratification, etc. in order to succeed?Winterborn wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 10:10 am
Probably a mix of both.
What I find odd is their cultural psyche is one way but they create (and have created) some very good (great) works of art (ballet, faberge eggs, etc.) and literature. They are an interesting group of people.
This, and prosecute and jail those that engage in corruption...UNI88 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 1:09 pmI don't disagree with this but there are some distinctions. I'm going to switch ambition for corruption and greed.∞∞∞ wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 12:44 pm

What is your definition of "already work hard"? Are we talking 50 hr work weeks?∞∞∞ wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 12:44 pmRussia is socialist?

https://www.wsj.com/articles/saudi-emir ... 1646779430The White House unsuccessfully tried to arrange calls between President Biden and the de facto leaders of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates as the U.S. was working to build international support for Ukraine and contain a surge in oil prices, said Middle East and U.S. officials.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the U.A.E.’s Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan both declined U.S. requests to speak to Mr. Biden in recent weeks, the officials said, as Saudi and Emirati officials have become more vocal in recent weeks in their criticism of American policy in the Gulf.
I don’t think the Russians have ever employed this tactic.
So they're going to sit and suck his dick for "astutely handling" a crisis of his own making????
Man do conspiracy theories die fast these days.
Even though they have a decent writer or two there, it is the Atlantic.
