Witness tactic #71 from the MAQA yahoo playbook:
When trump or one of his sycophants is criticized/mocked and you don't have a good response, find an older post to respond to and try to bury the criticism/mockery.

Witness tactic #71 from the MAQA yahoo playbook:

His post has been sitting there for almost 3 months. Why did you wait until now to give him that "opportunity"?

What a coincidence. A coincidence that is less believable than biden getting "11 million more votes than Obama".

I actually looked up gerrymandering and measures of it before even seeing this post and I happened to see what was included in that tweet. Seems to me it's the same problem with Fact Check sites - they make bold pronouncements, but how they get there (i.e. the details) gets covered over. Vance seems to have a point on the percentage of votes for one party being pretty far away from the percentage of Congressional seats. Surprisingly, a lot of the sites purporting to measure gerrymandering don't seem to include that data analysis.

True so I asked ChatGPT "Which states are most misaligned when you compare congressional representation to presidential voting percentage by party" and it responded:GannonFan wrote: ↑Thu Jul 31, 2025 9:09 amI actually looked up gerrymandering and measures of it before even seeing this post and I happened to see what was included in that tweet. Total of the 8 states with the greatest misalignment:States with Notable Misalignment
Republican Overrepresentation
These states have House delegations that significantly favor Republicans relative to Trump’s rule share of the presidential vote:Democratic Overrepresentation
- Texas: GOP held 66% of House seats while capturing 54% of the presidential vote, a +4.3 excess seats edge
- Ohio: Republicans won 67% of seats with 57% vote share, about +2.5 excess seats
- Florida: GOP gained approximately +1 House seat advantage above what Trump’s ~52–55% vote share would predict
- Wisconsin: 75% of House seats for Republicans vs. 51% vote share, +2‑3 seats
- North Carolina & Michigan: Both gave Republicans about +2 excess seats, despite more balanced presidential votes, 50–53% Democratic votes in Michigan, ~51% Republican in North Carolina
These states favor Democrats in House delegation relative to Biden's 2020 (as a proxy) vote share:
- California: Democrats received around 8–8.4 excess seats, holding well over 80% of House seats while winning 58% of presidential vote
- Illinois: Democrats had +1.7 seat advantage, overrepresented relative to their 55% vote share

Thanks, that's actually good stuff. And yes, I'm not surprised that it doesn't jibe with whatever any one particular politician is spouting from either side of the aisle. And yes, I'm pretty sure, at the end of the day, we'd see a lot of gerrymandering from both sides. Maybe sometimes it favors Republicans, other times Democrats. And both parties will fight tooth and nail to reduce the gerrymandering from the other side while boosting their own. Republicans:+14 (plus potentially 5 more with the proposed Texas remap)
Democrats: +10
I'm sure ChatGPT isn't perfect but it gives you a pretty good idea of the misalignment. vance isn't wrong California (it's the worst of the bunch) but Republicans more than make up for it with more states and don't have a lot to complain about.

Scalia is a giant as judge and a conservative, vance is a gnat.“Yes, if I were king, I would not allow people to go about burning the American flag,” Scalia said.
“However, we have a First Amendment, which says that the right of free speech shall not be abridged. And it is addressed, in particular, to speech critical of the government. I mean, that was the main kind of speech that tyrants would seek to suppress.”
And in 2015, he told a meeting in Philadelphia, “If it were up to me, I would put in jail every sandal-wearing, scruffy-bearded weirdo who burns the American flag. But I am not king.”
The words of Scalia, who died in February 2016, echoed through the MAGA-sphere, presenting a dilemma: To side with Trump or side with the conservative judicial movement’s most significant figure.

Good.

Apples to oranges. I can burn, sign, put my photo on, etc. an American flag that I own. I can't do that to someone else's property whether it's an American flag or a Pride flag. Freedom of speech does not protect illegal conduct, even if the conduct is meant to express an idea. Vandalism and/or destruction of government property is typically illegal conduct.BDKJMU wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 1:30 pmThe left: You can burn the American flag!UNI88 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 1:16 pm

One example of dozens from the last 5 years..

Destruction of govt property only to the level of burning rubber on any regular street markings would be. Not hate crime like the left tries to make it.UNI88 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 1:43 pmApples to oranges. I can burn, sign, put my photo on, etc. an American flag that I own. He’s a natural at being an insult comedian. Great comedy is self deprecating. Insult comedians have to maintain their persona (or insecurity) at “owning the opponent.” Jokes toward oneself are never appreciated.
