Was involved in two bicycle crashes in which both times, my helmet was destroyed. Bicycle helmets are designed that way though...to break up and dissipate the impact.

Nonetheless, I always wear a helmet riding my bike and especially when riding my scooter.

Kindly look into mandatory seatbelt laws. Not, "my body, my choice" argument.

I agree. Shouldn't have seatbelt, helmet or DUI laws. In order to have a crime; you need to have a victim. None of those three have a victim. You are free to kill yourself in many means. However, if you disregard common sense measures that would protect you from inflicting harm in others; the book; the desk and the walls should all be thrown at you in sentencing.

DUI is a little different - you're operating a vehicle at diminished capability and not only are others at risk, many time others are injured or killed by a DUI driver.

As for the other ones, I think the argument of increased insurance rates, which is shared by all, has been the argument to show there are victims other than the person directly not using the seatbelt, helmet, or DUI.
