Trump: Americans Who Died in War Are ‘Losers’ and ‘Suckers’
Truth or fiction? He's said similar things about McCain.
Bone Spurs is denying it.The president has repeatedly disparaged the intelligence of service members, and asked that wounded veterans be kept out of military parades, multiple sources tell The Atlantic.

Is there a reliable source for his statements or is this based on more "anonymous" sources?UNI88 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 9:12 am Trump: Americans Who Died in War Are ‘Losers’ and ‘Suckers’

Does it matter?
Re: Donald Trump gaffe and verbal bungles watch
Confirmed by 2 papers. It really comes down to if you're a supporter or not. Trump has said similar things about McCain. We know he doesn't like military personnel that have been captured, he has said that. So this really isn't much of a leap.SDHornet wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 9:19 amIs there a reliable source for his statements or is this based on more "anonymous" sources?UNI88 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 9:12 am Trump: Americans Who Died in War Are ‘Losers’ and ‘Suckers’

John Bolton, who certainly is no Trumptard, has already debunked the gist of "The Atlantic" story.Ibanez wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 10:50 amConfirmed by 2 papers. I meant to both sides. If it were true how many Trump voters would switch to Biden?
The Atlantic does some fine reporting.

Does it matter to Trump or his followers? Trump lies every other time he opens his mouth and he's offended when someone says something unflattering about him? Trump cares about his image, he doesn't give a sh!t about the truth.
As Ibanez has said, based on his history it is completely believable that he said something like this.

Oooooo, McCain spoke ill of Trump. Unforgivable! Trump - "He's a war hero because he was captured, I like people that weren't captured."SeattleGriz wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 1:26 pmYou do know McCain pushed the bogus Steele dossier and spoke ill of Trump?Ibanez wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 10:50 am

I didn't serve (I did maintain my registration with the selective service and didn't dodge service though) so I don't think I have the right to question the heroism, bravery or general service of those who did and I apply that same standard to bone spurs.
Trump continued to speak ill of McCain after he died. What kind of insecure weasel publicly mocks a dead person?

If it were true, probably quite a few, but it wasn't. Now it just makes the magazine look bad...again.
"The Atlantic" does a fine job providing read meat for the people residing inside it's echo chamber. To you that is fine reporting, and there isn't anything wrong with it...
Re: Donald Trump gaffe and verbal bungles watch
Trump says A LOT of stupid shit. Nothing he says surprises me any longer. He provides so much read meat, but "The Atlantic" chooses to chase after Bigfoot instead?UNI88 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 1:14 pmDoes it matter to Trump or his followers? So two papers cite/name their sources? Or two papers ran with the "anonymous sources" shtick?Ibanez wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 10:50 amConfirmed by 2 papers. The Atlantic is center left at worst. Reliable, well sourced and edited. But all sources should be viewed with skepticism.Baldy wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 2:11 pmIf it were true, probably quite a few, but it wasn't. Now it just makes the magazine look bad...again.

I don't think we should be giving Trump a pass because so much of what comes out of his mouth or twitter fingers is BS. Its hypocritical to call the Atlantic on shoddy reporting but not call Trump on his BS.Baldy wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 2:15 pmTrump says A LOT of stupid shit. Nothing he says surprises me any longer. Seeing reports that 11 minutes after the Atlantic article hit the web Biden's campaign was running a prerecorded ad on the exact same claim. Coordination between the campaign and the mag?

The Atlantic’s principal owner (Steve Job’s widow) donated over $600,000 to the Biden Victory fund...color me skeptical about the timing and “sources”...kalm wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 2:25 pmThe Atlantic is center left at worst. Between his big fat mouth and his big fat twatter fingers, there is a lot of ammunition out there. Forgive me for not hyperventilating because someone told someone that Trump said something bad about someone.

She donated to a center right Democrat? GASP!

Btw, a Fox foreign correspondent confirmed the story through her own contacts who were there in France...on air this afternoon.
Duh, duh, duh!
