In a stunning move, the Walt Disney Company has announced that it will be relocating Disney World from Orlando, Florida to a new 1000-acre parcel of land outside Atlanta, Georgia. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for August 2023.
...
The new park in Atlanta will reportedly feature many of the same beloved attractions and characters as the current Disney World, but with a few new additions tailored to the Atlanta area. For example, visitors can look forward to a new “Gone with the Wind” ride, a “Coca-Cola World” exhibit, and an “Atlanta Braves” baseball experience.
...
Of course, this is parody — but what a great “Fuck You” this would be to DeSantis.
As soon as I saw the ‘1,000’ acres I knew it was a dumb parody. Disney World is hundreds of rides, atteactions, hotels, restaurants, etc, built up over 1/2 a century, covering 25k acres/40+ sq miles. Good luck finding 40 sq miles available just outside, well any top 25 metro area in the country. At this point Disney World would be virtually impossible to move. They’re stock was down 44% in 2022, and they’ve laid off thousands in the last year, and are laying off thousands more. Go woke, go broke.. They’ll go bankrupt before they ever move.

If they go bankrupt it would be a kick in central Florida's economic nuts and people won't just blame Disney. They'll curse desantis' name for decades. He'll be the Herbert Hoover of Florida governors.

Newsome has probabky done more damage to Disney when he shut down Disneyland for over a year March 2020- April 2021, and didn’t fully reopen with no restrictions until 2022? DisneyWorld only shut down for a few months. And a lot of Disney’s losses are due to their media empire.

Accountability is needed. The system corrupts but the same system can also demand accountability on behalf of we the people.

What exactly would "flexing of its co-equal-branch-of-government" by the Executive branch look like? What is this guy proposing?

Good question.

Kirschner proves his partisan hack credentials by starting with Ted Cruz, Republican; Thomas & Gorsuch, appointed by Republicans; and January 6, a Republican insurrection. He makes no mentions of any Democratic hacks in Congress, the crappy SC justices appointed by Democrats or the AnTiFa riots and other Democratic attempts at insurrection.

Most importantly, he completely misses one of the biggest problems in DC, Congress not doing it's job and actually legislating while allowing the President to legislate through executive order.

It's just another poorly argued stanza of the "Republicans are the root of all our problems" lament.

I don’t know Kirschner’s political leanings. I’m more concerned with corruption and a government that diminishes rights and refuses to answer to authority.

I’m post partisan like that.

Investigate and if applicable prosecute failure to disclose financial favors at least for starters.

You mean like insider trading by Pelosi and other Congresscritters and similar malfeasance? Or Hunter using his connection to his dad to rake in millions? Or Bernie trading on his position in Congress to make millions for writing a book? What about urban DAs refusing to prosecute criminals?

Yes. Investigate them all and you may come up with something. Keep in mind, much of the corruption has been legalized.

Failure to disclose is one small codified hoop to jump through that Thomas has seemingly missed.

Is anyone offering a variable rate mortgage loans these days? I thought that was a thing of the past after 2010, or so.

The proposed loans are fixed rate loans.

Depends on how you want to read the graph.

I think it's pretty telling, and I'd say positive, that from 1970 to 2021, the percentage of people considered "low income" dropped from 25% to 10%. That's awesome, people are moving upwards in large numbers. And it doesn't stop there, the percentage of people in the "high income" bracket moved from 14% to 29%. How's that not awesome too? Kinda goes directly against the narrative that people can't move upwards in American society as defined by income - people are moving and mostly moving upwards. Yay America. Wonder how other countries look and if they have anything close to this upward movement in society.

Good catch. Now compare that to current stats on household spending as a percentage of income, savings, and debt.

As soon as you share those graphs sure, I'll do the comparisons. Let me know when you have the data. :thumb: And yes, I'm sure the rampant inflation we just subjected ourselves to won't be helpful and will be reflected in those numbers. Should've kept our eye on inflation rather than whacky stuff like modern monetary theory. Oh well, live and learn I guess.
