I posted before, I know lots who got Omicron, but all of them were double vaxed, boosted and we've been wearing masks everywhere.
See, we're actually dealing with batch testing at the three different schools my kids attend, so I would have expected some positives out of that. Our family has been tested six times in the last year. Three PCR tests for the youngest, two PCR tests for the oldest and one S antibody test for me. Nothin.

We are still locked down pretty hard with masking restrictions in establishment and the kids schools, and if I go into King county (Seattle), they require proof of vax for indoors.

Hey JSO is the CDC still following the science? Because if they are, then maybe we should follow the advice of state governors…. since they seem to be a couple weeks ahead of the science bureaucracy!

Iowa Governor ended the public health disaster declaration at midnight this morning. Iowa has been pretty open for well over a year but this ended all the exceptions to various rules and requirements that were being impacted by Covid.

Very thankful I live in a free state. Kids have been back in school since fall of 2020, restaurants/bars/stores are open, life is pretty normal. I've worn a mask less than 100 hours since this started and probably 10-15 of that is related to medical visits where they were required.

What do you think happens?

- The general public forgets and the County doesn't follow through on suspensions?
- Suspensions become a part of collective bargaining?
- The County follows through on the suspensions and the union backs their comrades with a walkout (or whatever kind of response is permitted)?
- Something else?

The noise of all cause deaths being sky high after the introduction of the vaccines keeps growing louder.

I sure hope this is just unsubstantiated craziness, but when insurance companies are posting insane amount of increases in deaths, I can't help but wonder.

It's about safety. They have to weigh the risk introduced by idiots who won't get vaccinated against the risk introduced by not having enough firefighters. What's sad is that there are enough idiots in the position who won't get vaccinated to force them to strike that balance.

As stated, I sure hope so. Don't think I haven't wondered if it was all the stress and isolation coupled with the decrease in doctor/hospital visits.

If it was truly about safety there’d be no question as to when the suspension was served.

But it’s not.

It’s about power.

Bahaha. What a giant asshole. Does his line of reasoning sound familiar? It's settled science, so I won't debate. In fairness he has a point about needing to check out claims, but under Rogan's parameters, you could limit that in a discussion. Lastly his claim about repeating experiments rings rather hollow as there is a huge replication problem in science AND his models on climate have failed spectacularly.

This is in the Covid thread because his line of thinking is the same as the "experts" on Covid.

What risk is that bro? The "risk" you speak of is actually higher amongst the vaccinated as the data is clearly showing.

This is you falling for the vilification of a natural process. COVID was always going to tear through the unvaccinated in poor shape first, and then move onto the vaccinated in poor shape... just like it's doing now.

You've even commented on how Omicron is going after the vaccinated at higher rates than the unvaccinated. It's called Original Antigenic Sin.

I would bet the IFR among those firefighters is around .05%

Glad you're back on the thread though. Always good to be challenged. That's what this thread is about.

I agree with her. Businesses SHOULD have the right, but not the MANDATE, either way. Then the consumer can choose if they want to patronize that establishment.

Last night it finally happened.

I dreamed that I was at a large social gathering and didn't have a mask! Spent the whole time trying to hide in the corner or looking for a free mask.
