Its clear they learned nothing from the 2024 election and they are beholden to their left wing base: the 20% of America that is for men playing women’s sports. As long as they are for it, they can be beat over the head with it in upcoming elections . I hope SCOTUS vis a vis Title IX doesn’t get around to it till 2027, but they probably will sooner.

‘Hamilton’ Producers Cancel Upcoming Kennedy Center Engagement Following Trump Takeover: “Some Institutions Are Sacred And Should Be Protected From Politics”
“Given these recent actions, our show simply cannot, in good conscience, participate and be a part of this new culture that is being imposed on the Kennedy Center,” said producer Jeffrey Seller in a statement. “Therefore, we have cancelled the third engagement of Hamilton at the Kennedy Center,
...
“Hamilton was proudly performed at the Kennedy Center in 2018 during the first Trump administration,” Seller said. “We are not acting against his administration, but against the partisan policies of the Kennedy Center as a result of his recent takeover.”

“Political disagreement and debate are vital expressions of democracy,” Seller said. “These basic concepts of freedom are at the very heart of Ham
...
“The recent purge by the Trump Administration of both professional staff and performing arts events at or originally produced by the Kennedy Center flies in the face of everything this national cultural center represents,” he said. “This spirit of nonpartisanship ended on February 7, 2025, with the firing of Kennedy Center President Deborah Rutter, the Chairman of the Board David Rubenstein, numerous other Kennedy Center board members, and the cancellation of important programming. These actions bring a new spirit of partisanship to the national treasure that is the Kennedy Center.”

The cancellation, Seller noted, “is also a business decision.”

“Hamilton is a large and global production,” Seller stated, “and it would simply be financially and personally devastating to the hundreds of employees of Hamilton if the new leadership of the Kennedy Center suddenly cancelled or re-negotiated our engagement. The actions of the new Chairman of the Board in recent weeks demonstrate that contracts and previous agreements simply cannot be trusted. This is sad, because basic integrity and the rule of law have long been great American principles that help serve as a foundation for our Nation.”

I don't think there's anything useful or truthful down this road.

I think genuine psychopaths are pretty rare, and most of them lack the impulse control to stay out of prison. I've hated Musk long before liberals decided they hated him too and I don't think he's a psychopath. The important variable is who you reserve it for. No one gives unconditional empathy and our media bubbles influence who we give it to.

I saw a tweet from a Democrat that lost a house race last year and he said his aunt called him to talk about Thanksgiving and he told them he doesn't want Trump voters in his house. It's like they think a "woman of color" couldn't have possibly run a bad campaign and if you voted for Trump you're just a bad person. Do they not realize a state Donald Trump won by 18 points approved a minimum wage and mandatory sick leave by 8 points? That's a straight-up delusional take and to throw away family relationships over that delusion is just crazy.

Maybe try to understand why people would vote for Trump and don't be so sure that the left is right on all the cultural issues.

I don't think trump or musk are psychopaths either. There is no question they're narcissists but is either one or both a sociopath?

harris was a horrible candidate who ran a horrible campaign. biden screwed the Dems by waiting too long to drop out. He never should have been the candidate which would have allowed for real primary races and possibly a much better candidate. The Dems need to get their head out of their behind and focus on issues they can win on.

Gavin Newsom breaks with Democrats on trans athletes in sports
Newsom’s interview with Kirk was friendly, sometimes exceedingly so. He mentioned the influence Kirk and other MAGA-world figures have had on his 13-year-old son, distanced himself from the use of pronouns and the gender-neutral term “Latinx,” called police defunding “lunacy,” denounced “cancel culture” and agreed that there had been some internal issues in the leadership of the Black Lives Matter organization.
...
On youth trans sports Kirk drew out a longer response.

There are relatively few transgender athletes competing at the collegiate level. But Newsom said it was “easy to call out” the unfairness, echoing concerns raised by Republicans in Washington and across the country who argue that banning trans women and girls from participating in school athletic competitions designated for female athletes would ensure fairness.

While Newsom has at times touched on his own concerns about the issue, particularly around youth sports, the remarks on his eponymous new podcast are his most expansive on the topic. He went on to express sympathy for trans people, noting “these poor people” have higher rates of suicide and depression and saying “the way that people talk down to vulnerable communities is an issue that I have a hard time with, as well.”

Yet, Newsom said Kirk was right when he contended that Republicans were capitalizing politically by painting Democrats as out of step with a strong majority of Americans on the issue. Earlier this week, Senate Democrats blocked a GOP-led effort to bar transgender girls from female youth sports.
This is where Democrats need to be - compassion for trans athletes but understand that there can be an unfair competitive advantage to athletes born biologically male competing against biological females and that rights of biological females should not be set aside to accommodate trans athletes

Trump administration moves to drop Idaho emergency abortion case with national implications
The Trump administration on Wednesday moved to drop an Idaho emergency abortion case in one of its first moves on the issue since President Donald Trump began his second term.
...
A judge quickly blocked that enforcement, though, after doctors said it could force them to airlift women to other states to get standard critical care without the risk of running afoul of the law. During an emergency hearing Wednesday, U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill called the Justice Department's sudden move a “ticking time bomb” for the Idaho hospital system that recently brought its own lawsuit in an effort to keep the legal claims alive.

Idaho doctors, meanwhile, say it's often unclear in fast-moving emergencies whether pregnancy complications could ultimately prove fatal and allow a legal abortion under ban, doctors said.

St. Luke’s Health System, the state's largest, said it airlifted six patients out of state to treat medical emergencies when the ban was in force between January and April 2024. Only one needed similar treatment in all of 2023.

“These are parents that want to have these children, and they are experiencing perhaps the worst day of their lives, a horrible health emergency,” said Lindsay Harrison, one of the the attorneys representing St. Luke’s Health System.

The time served as a “natural experiment,” illustrating the irreparable harm that occurs when doctors are forced to choose between federal law and a state abortion ban, Harrison told the judge.

Idaho Deputy Attorney General Brian Church said the fact that all the patients made it to out-of-state hospitals shows there is no conflict between federal law and Idaho's abortion ban.
In 4 months under the ban, 6 patients had to be airlifted out of state to treat medical emergencies compared to only 1 such incidence in the year before the ban. The state argues that there is no conflict because none of those 6 died. How long before some expectant mother does die? What excuses will the representatives of the "party of life" give?

Abortion bans that are so strict they can put the lives of expectant mothers experiencing medical emergencies at risk is an issue that Democrats can win on.

Big difference: Bobby Knight loved his players. trump loves himself. It is reasonable to ask if trump is a _____path.

The Psychopath in Chief (paywall)
I spent hundreds of hours with Donald Trump to ghost-write ‘The Art of the Deal.’ I now see a deeper meaning behind his behavior.
Spot the Difference: Psychopath or Sociopath? The Donald Trump Example
He routinely insults and degrades others. His immigration policy is in direct conflict with basic human rights. He doesn’t seem to care when he offends or deceives. He never apologises, whether for calling Mexican immigrants rapists or being caught in yet another outright lie. If you catch him out, he shifts attention or responsibility to someone else, and he is easy to anger.
...
The key is not to validate the sociopath.

We're not doing a great job of this so far. Trump is validated every time his fear-mongering has an impact on the polls. He is validated every time the crowd cheers. He is validated with airtime and by the people he surrounds himself with.

Potentially, instead of stamping out radical Islamic terrorism, the West are creating their own form of terrorism, directed at themselves, fostered by a sociopath with too much power and not enough foresight, and more concern for himself than for the people he claims to represent.

It's all their fault is a convenient excuse.

Yes, biden and the Democratic Party share some of the blame for their horrendous policies (immigration, trans in women's sports, etc.) and for not getting out of the 2024 race sooner.

Republicans didn't have to nominate trump. They did so willingly and enthusiastically. No excuses, they own whatever he does.

Roe vs Wade was overturned in 2022. There were few to no examples of the impacts of the draconian laws that some states passed.

I think it resonates better in 2025, 2026 and 2028 then it did in 2022 and harris was a horrible candidate in 2024. The majority of voters do not support these draconian restrictions that intimidate doctors and put mothers' lives at risk.

Image

How does it play in battleground states like Georgia and North Carolina?
New poll finds nearly two-thirds of Georgia voters object to state’s new abortion restrictions

It will resonate even more if Congress foolishly tries to push through a nationwide ban.

And what additional ‘draconian’ examples are there now that weren’t there 4 months ago?

I don’t think it does more than 2024.

That GA article was before the 2022 elections. And conks have won every statewide office in GA since 2022 sans Hershel Walker (he was a terrible candidate) and Trump won GA. Conks have done better in GA in the 2 years after Dobbs than the 2 years before. And Kemp (he hasn’t announced yet) is going to trounce Ossof in 2026

They won’t. And as long as they don’t, it’s not going to resonate nationally

‘Stop these crazy bills’: Republicans join Democrats to defeat anti-trans legislation in Montana
The new bill would have granted private individuals the right to sue if a public drag show took place.

In an unusual move, a Republican representative, Sherry Essmann, also spoke out against the bill.Trust the parents to do what’s right, and stop these crazy bills that are a waste of time. They’re a waste of energy.
We should be working on property tax relief and not doing this sort of business on the floor of this house and having to even talk about this,” said Essmann.

The bill was defeated by 55 to 44, after 13 Republicans flipped to support Democrats.
...
Representative SJ Howell then spoke out against an even more extreme bill that sought to remove transgender children from their parents.

“Every time a child is removed from their family, it’s a tragedy. Sometimes a necessary tragedy, but a tragedy nonetheless. This bill does not come close to the seriousness with which those decisions should be contemplated,” said Howell.

“Put yourself in the shoes of a [child protective service] worker who is confronted with a young person … living in a stable home with loving parents, who is supported and has their needs met. And they are supposed to remove that child from their home and put them in the care of the state? We should absolutely not be doing that.”

The bill was defeated by 71 votes to 27, after 29 Republicans defected.
Found some adults in Montana.
