So we have "classes" that teach you how to read the word of God now to apologize for those gaffs

We need a NEW language to communicate the subtleties of the universe and the experience of God
The Old Testament and the Books of the Bible are for a different people who lived in a different time

Today God (for some reason) has decided to behave radically differently then he did back then
So we need to communicate about God in a way that reflects those differences NOT fights to uphold them in the light of complete bullsh!t that they are...

And if you say: No, God hasn't changed how he behaves then somebody is lying...

Your position only makes sense IF you are correct that the Bible MUST be read with the mindset of a nine-year-old.

College theology departments offer numerous courses in how to understand the Bible and, with the exception of departments at fundamentalist schools, all of them instruct the Bible must be read in its entirety, in context, figuratively and/or symbolically at times, and as an evolving statement. IF the Bible HAD to be read the way you and Cleets suggest, I doubt there would be serious study of it.

Always interesting to have our Pastor talk about a verse in the Bible and it takes them 15 minutes to explain because they need to put the vers in context with the times and then explain what was lost in the translation to English.
