That's probably a worse rep than Klobuchar or Kamala given the current situation.
She was largely respected by the minority communities in Orlando. And it hasn’t kept her from winning a seat in the House.
Winning a local seat doesn't mean it will equate to national relevance. Just look at the anti-cop rhetoric Trip is spewing regarding the rioting crackdowns and enforcement. Leftist will not doubt have the same sentiment as him towards a former cop on a ticket.

The hell of it is that she probably declined to prosecute because it was a legit shooting. More bad luck/bad timing for her - wouldn't be surprised to see her be offered a gig in the administration though. She does know how to slap around unruly subordinates.
Accuracy.
She's an agressive self-starter with a can-do attitude.

I don’t think it would be difficult at all to paint her as a police reformer.

Klobuchar and Harris have actual prosecutorial baggage that is much more difficult to explain away.

I don't think the Leftists are interested in any reform short of a stern talking to by police upon arrest followed by immediate release.

I hear she’s on the possible VP list. She is infinitely more experienced both on the executive AND legislative sides than any of the other possibles.

Not necessarrily, there are places like in FL where the crowd and the cops are finding ways to keep a lid on things.
