Resorting to recess appointments to get through candidates who wouldn't be able to get through the nomination process are as much of an abdication of the Constitution as were the Dem plans to force into statehood PR and DC to stack the Senate and the plans they had to pack the Court. The Senate has the advise and consent role given to them in the Constitution - if Trump can't get some candidates through even a friendly Senate then the Senate shouldn't run away and not do their Constitutional duty. Recess appointments were for when it took a month by horse to get back to Washington. We can do better.

It’s all up to Thune and Senate R’s. If both houses agree to 3 day or greater adjournment, Trump can and almost certainly will. You know Mike Johnson is on board.

Based on McConnell’s handling of Trump, I’m guessing it will happen under Thune.

Gaetz withrdrew today. Trump replaced him with FL AG Pam Bondi.

What is going through Trump's mind? Even without the distraction of his legal problems, Gaetz had no cred as an AG, anyway. Sure, he has a J.D. Many people in Washington do; it seems to be a pre-req of sorts to get into Government. After B&M Law, he seems to have done a bit of work at a law firm, but he's never done anything from a prosecution POV.

Bondi has experience as a state-level AG. She's an ace for that (if one is speaking in terms of playing cards). Why didn't Trump just lead with her to begin with? Makes no sense....
