Payback as in the sense that before Obama, it was my understanding that sitting Presidents didn't comment on their predecessors actions, nor did those who were out of office comment on the sitting President. Essentially, keep quiet.

Obama is getting a dose of his own medicine. My favorite Trump dig was directed at Hillary though, when he said that she made the US look like a bunch of jerks with her reset button fiasco.

As to the fail, I don't disagree with you on that at all.

I don't think he's smart. But the Trump haters can't have it both ways: If he's NOT smart, then he sure as **** didn't mastermind the Russian collusion thing.

But on the flip side I don't think he's much worse than any of the past 8-10 presidents we've had either. His biggest "fault" is his lack of decorum--his inability to let ANY comment go without a ridiculous tweet (well, that and a complete inability to remain on script when in front of a podium). Other than that I just don't see much difference...except he's actually gotten some things done (by being willing to say "**** you" and working in very unconventional ways) on several fronts whereas his predecessors mostly just gave a lot of lip service:

* banking regulation reform
* tax reform
* North Korea problem
* Chinese trade deficit
* border wall
* Keystone pipeline

Nobody thinks he's smart enough to have masterminded the Russian collusion thing, I don't know where you got that idea. But he sure as shit knew something crooked was going on, he proves it with every attempt to stall, discredit, demonize, and divert the investigation. Nobody with nothing to hide acts like he does. Especially while stuffing their families pocket full of taxpayer dollars to the total exclusion of the rest of the job of governing.

Bad News For Dems: Household Income Hits All-Time High Under Trump … And He's Getting Credit For It

A new report shows that the median household income has climbed 3% since President Trump took office. It's another sign of a strong economy, and at least one poll shows the public credits Trump for the good news. Should Democrats wave bye to the Blue Wave?

Median household income has been steadily increasing under Trump, rising from $59,471 in January 2017 to $61,483 last month, according to Sentier Research, which tracks income on a monthly basis using census data.

This also means that household income is now higher than it's been in at least 50 years — after adjusting for inflation.

This is a sharp turnaround from the Obama years. Sentier data show that median household income was the same when President Obama left office as when he arrived. Under Obama, household incomes continued to fall steeply for two full years after the recession officially ended, and then took four years to make up that lost ground. Incomes then flatlined again, posting no overall gain between August 2015 and December 2016.....”

I wanted to get back to this because the linked article referenced something called "Sentier Research." I found the organization's estimates on median household income at https://www.advisorperspectives.com/dsh ... -at-61-227.

Here is a graph of the Sentier Research estimates:



That graph indicates that raw median household income has generally been in an upward trend since sometime in 2010 and real (inflation adjusted) median household income has generally been in an upward trend since sometime in 2011.

Bottom line: The Sentier Research estimates referenced by the editorial CLEARLY indicate that median household income raw or inflation adjusted was in a well established upward trend before Trump took office.

Same test as before: If someone looked at that graph without knowing anything about who was in office when there is no way they would say something significant happened around the end of 2016 and/or the beginning of 2017 to significantly change things. What you see is a clear switch to a generally downward trend around 2008 and 2009 then a switch to a generally positive trend around 2010 and/or 2011.

Now, I'll admit that it's difficult to get such messages across to the public. But I do think the Democrats should at least try. There is no evidence of an association between Trump getting elected and a change in the trajectory of the economy. That is the truth and the Democrats should at least TRY to get the truth in that regard out.
