I wouldn't be surprised if this election is very close in the popular votes, but a complete blowout in the electoral college. I think Trump will bring out a lot of people, but I also think they'll be in places that won't really affect the election.

Could be - Bill Clinton won with a margin of 5M votes in the first election and then 9M in the second one. Obama's 10M vote win in 2008 was the largest in awhile (he only beat Romney by 5M in the second election). She could very well be like her husband - I think Bill Clinton is the only President to be elected twice while never receiving more than 50% of the popular vote. Given the disgust with the two major parties, it's very likely again that the winner will be well south of 50%.

Michael Steele, who led the Republican Party from 2009 to 2011, became the latest senior Republican figure to say he would not vote for Donald Trump.

Hillary's not the one that has to worry about the Deplorables. It's the Republican Party that has to worry about them. They're a millstone around the Republican Party's neck. The Party can't live with them and they can't live without them. They're in a serious fix. People said before that it's nearly impossible for a candidate that can win the general election to win the Republican primaries and the existence of a critical mass of the Republican electorate that would vote for an abomination like Trump in the primaries means that is more evident now than it's ever been before.

Hillary and Democrats are fine with the Deplorables because as long as those people are a serious factor in Republican politics the Democrats are in really good shape. Right now the political future looks like this to the Democrats:



The Republicans had candidates that would have been favorites to win the general election this year. Candidates that were perfectly acceptable and whose odds of beating Clinton would've been FAR higher than Trump's. And it was clear that was the case from the beginning. But the Deplorables screwed the Party up by voting for a complete embarrassment.
