So, will the next Donk POTUS declare a national emergency on Gun Violence? What about healthcare?

Trump is going to lose in the court and declare "victory" and say he tried to get it done.

If it happens, I can predict with 99.999% accuracy who on this board would support it

:coffee:
I would. I’m against abuses of power by the executive, and for a decentralized government.

I would hope that would be your impression of me.

Many thanks to Comrade Trump for paving the way for an executive declaration of a National Emergency. :thumb: He and his supporters are the gift that keeps on giving. It's like he is the lab rat that will pave gthe way for liberal domination in this country over the next couple of decades.

Maybe he will get his statue eventually after all......

Are you against the national emergency declaration or do you make an exception for it like eminent domain?

Yes....

...then those will be challenged in the courts just like this wall emergency will be....

...and if those go to SCOTUS, the Trump appointed Justices will be the deciding factor in ruling them down...

....because elections have consequences...

I don't think it is a national emergency, so no, I don't agree with Trump declaring one.

Hence my term "abuses of power" that you must not have understood.

And, abuse of power is an impeachable offense. You think he should be impeached?

Not successfully. Even if SCOTUS (where this will end up) rules that Trump does have the authority in this case, he isn’t overturning a constitutional amendment, and no donk POTUS will be able to overturn 2A by a national emergency declaration.

And if SCOTUS rules like you say, that Trump doesn’t have the authority, then a donk POTUS won’t declare one on either above scenario..

CNN & the like would make you believe that National Emergencies are never used, which is a pile of crap. Since 1979 U.S. Presidents have declared 58 National Emergencies, 31 of these are still in effect today. Clinton used it the most, 17 times.

I'd be willing to bet most of them were for sanctions, disaster relief, barring the US from importing illegal items or working with a foreign company. Things like that and not a construction project. It's not meant to circumnavigate the appropriation duties of Congress when you don't get your way.

Actually CNN listed all of the national Emergencies declared by past Presidents. And you are wrong about Clinton....he declared 9. Dubya Bush declared 13. Trump has already declared 3....soon to be 4.
