Most truthy. Also to clarify, I tend to get snippy with the ID crowd not because of what they believe, but because of why they believe it. In fact, Seattle Griz gets reps from me because he is the first of his kind that I've run across to even attempt to state a theory of intelligent design rather than hang his hat on the "holes in this theory are proof of a different theory" peg. Fact is that nobody knows that we aren't just a contaminant in some giant petri dish or something.
BTW, wrt the Big Bang, I read an interesting article somewhere about the "arrow of time" and it's implication for the "beginning of everything". The mangled version is that we experience the progression of what we call time in one direction, always from a state of less entropy (disorder) to a state of more entropy, in fact that is almost a definition of time. Any time in the future will be a state of more entropy; makes sense what with the universe expanding and all. Likewise any time in the past was a state of less entropy (more order). When we look far out in the universe we are looking at the past in which the universe had more order to it. Follow that back to the Big Bang and the implication is that at that time the universe was a very ordered place. If I were going to push ID that's the path I would follow.
We might be in the cylinder of a big ol' V8 engine and the Big Bang was a spark plug igniting. Our universe is expanding as the piston rushes away from us.

There is a physicist by the name of Frank Tippler (The Physics of Immortality) that thinks we are part of a huge computer program, and he offers whole chapters of math that look like they came off of an Egyptian tomb to support his contention.

Like the Matrix? That would suck. That would mean that there is a person that allows horrible shit to happen.

Turns out I might be a little gay. 89Hen 11/7/17

Me too. That's why I used to read so much sci-fi, the math was easier.native wrote:Wow! I really like that stuff, Dawg! ...It's just that I can't understand it becase I am only a pseudo intellectual...houndawg wrote: ...

You matter. Unless you multiply yourself by c squared. Then you energy.
