As you know, "Free Speech" refers to the relationship between Government and People. The culture has every right to reject things. For example: I think the culture has a right to reject homosexuality. I think that if a business owner wants to refuse to engage in commerce with homosexuals, he or she should have a right to do that. In this case a business owner did not want to engage in commerce with someone associated with Trump and I think she does and should have a right to do that. I think that is perfectly consistent with the Constitution.Ivytalk wrote:You’re just a sad old #Resist scold. You’re no constitutionalist. We'll see what happens. For at least a while they are probably going to get a bunch of people going there just because they did what they did. But that will wane. Either way, the owner did the right thing. Also interesting that she her staff what she should do and they said they wanted Sanders out.

Btw, is the restaurant owner running for a position and/or recieving marching orders from the DNC?
Now we have an entire movement of Resist nut-job whackos doing the exact same things or even worse while being propped up, cheered on, and even joined in with a willing media.

This and this alone isn't what will sour people on Democrat alternatives in November. It is the total body of work. A large portion of the "resistance" is overwrought. And now we have pundits basically saying Trump and anyone who votes for Trump is a Nazi, when there really is no comparison

I think the biggest problem the Democrats have his infighting. I wish I could find a written record of it but I heard a NPR piece this weekend on a Democrat candidate making the Sanders Medicare for Everyone thing the centerpiece of his campaign. I won't even attempt to describe it. But suffice to say the Democrat "establishment" is screwing itself and making what should be an easy task into a difficult one.CID1990 wrote:You're missing the pointkalm wrote:

The GOP used to care about science, the environment, facts, and people's rights. They'd make sure the advancement of such items was financially responsible, but at least they cared.Ivytalk wrote:Which, in your view, just happen to be Republican, conservative, or whatever. Inshallah, right?
Now they don't give a shit about those things nor are they financially responsible.
So yeah, the GOP is way more removed from fundamental human morality than anyone else right now.

"Immoral policies" according to whom? Who decides what is moral?
Separating children from their mothers at the border is immoral, but separating a fetus from its mother isn't?
Where was this outrage when Obama was separating children from their mothers, locking them in cages, and lying through his teeth on an almost daily basis?

Pretty much this. Not sure why folks are comparing the cake guy to this as they couldn't be more different. Cake guy was being mandated by the gubmint to make the cake, gubmint wasn't forcing anyone to do anything at the hen house incident.HI54UNI wrote:If the owner doesn't want Sander's or a Trump supporter's business that should be her prerogative. I wouldn't worry too much about Trip and his fellow leftist ilk. The donks are eating their own as they (and the msm) continue to push the alt-Left agenda which includes a scorched earth policy on anyone not in lock-step with their broke dick group think. The #walkaway campaign (vid below) has classical liberals and moderates abandoning the donk party. It took about a decade (maybe longer depending on your opinion on when it really got out of hand), but the hatred and divisiveness from the donks has finally jumped the shark. You can only call everyone you disagree with a nazi so many times until people finally catch on.Baldy wrote:Altruistic Bullshit∞∞∞ wrote: I'm glad; Hogg is fighting the good fight.

Couple that with some of the more prominent issues that went public within the DNC (rigged primary to fuck over Bernie, new rules that prevent a Bernie-type of run ever again, general corruption, etc) and add in that Obama left the DNC with massive debt on its hands and the donks are in quite a predicament as we enter the homestretch into mid-term season.

I was merely commenting on how the Trump phenomenon has challenged the old paradigm of political decorum. I'm not even sure that's a bad thing. The interesting question for me being that since his aggression didn't turn off too many independents in 2016, can similar abrasive tactics not be a detriment to Democrats in 2018 or do they need to remain the party of pussy/nice guys in order to sway enough indies?
And yes, extrapolating the actions of a restaurant owner to whether people will vote for congressional Democratic candidates is indeed a bit irrelevant. But it can still lead to a fun discussion until you piss on it.
BTW, if we're discussing election ramifications rather than comparing policy, it can't really be "but Trump". It would be nice if you could follow along a little better.
