If you go back to 2016 election polling results Clinton won among people who called themselves "moderate" by 52% to 40%.

Few Americans call themselves “progressive,” or think they share similar views with citizens of social democracies like Canada, Denmark, and Germany. But on most major issues, Americans lean left. Although Trump, the corporate plutocracy, and the so-called alt-right may think otherwise, the United States is a more decent and democratic society than we give it credit for.

I was thinking earlier tonight about the guy (Disinterested Jelly knows his name fo sho.... I don’t) who made the threat towards Cohen...
If I thought I could be the majority/minority whip.... I’d run for Cawngress and Id pull out all the stops to get there... lie, cheat, steal..
Because the reward would be that I could bounce those snively little critters off the walls... borderline put them in the hospital... and nobod6 would do sh1t to me
I’d be known to Hill insiders as “abrasive”
But I’d get paid 200 large just to kick those fvckers’ asses up over their shoulders
I’d run as Dem or Rep... I don’t care. I’d espouse full on state communism. I’d support putting “y’all back on the plantation”... I’d swing like a windvane,.,, just get me that seat and make me the whip

58% think it's the government's responsibility to ensure we all have healthcare?
59% think there's some right that whites have that blacks don't? Please, please tell me what that right is....
63% believe our economic system favors powerful interests? Hello? SOCIALISM???
61% think abortion should be legal in all/most cases? Real "moderate" there...

I think a stigma has been attached to the term "liberal." As a result I think there are a lot of people who really are "liberal" but instead call themselves "moderate." When it comes right down to it I think the distribution of public opinion, for better or for worse, favors liberalism. And I think the evolution is such that things are moving farther in that direction as time goes on.

Judge orders Texas not to purge voters after botching list
https://www.chron.com/news/texas/articl ... 649806.php
Saying there is no evidence of widespread election fraud in Texas, a federal judge Wednesday blocked the removal of any registered voter after state Republican leaders loudly but wrongly questioned the U.S. citizenship of tens of thousands of people.
The decision by U.S. District Judge Fred Biery of San Antonio temporarily halts a bungled search for illegal voters in Texas, which began in January with the release of a deeply flawed list of 98,000 voters who were flagged as possibly not being citizens. Those names were immediately referred to prosecutors , and Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton amplified the announcement as a "VOTER FRAUD ALERT."

The country was founded on liberal ideals. Some of those have naturally evolved along with civilization and culture.
To me, the word still means open mindedness and freedom. Hence college campuses can be illiberal while libertarian policies can be liberal.
