In general, I wouldn't hold with mocking the good work that most churches do. But in their case, they're doing WAY more harm than good. They're probably independent Baptist; any decent denomination (including SBC and the myriad other official Baptist groups) would rein in bogus zealots like those.

My father in law, his family is Southern Baptist. He's prior military, and isn't. They don't like to dance, sing(unless it's church music), you can't pplay monopoly or anything with fake money or dice, you can't drink or swear. They are deeply religious, regardless of the sex before marriage and oh yeah, the incest (that's right, there's accepted incest in the family). What a bunch of fuckin crazies. And they talk down to Catholics. I pointed that out the first time I met them and boy were they pissed. Her parents were cool with it, but the family never had someone defend themselves.
Today, we get along great! But that was an uncomfortable few months.

Yeah, we have those jokes as well. Around here, the Baptists have been having a difficult time now that you can buy booze 7 days a week.

Some of the guys at the Wednesday night bluegrass jam are Baptists, they throw those out between pulls on the whisky bottle.
Very nice. I actually used to work with a guy who is from southern Illinois, went to SIU, and used to race cars on dirt tracks. Good ol boy...good guy.
Nothing wrong with some whisky and pickin.

Probably isn't, back when we moved here if I hadn't seen us cross the Ohio River I would have thought we were still in Kentucky (about half of which is north of here).

You can say that again... the ridiculous blue laws and overbearing southern baptist presence has killed many a small town in the south.

BTW, I bagged literally dozens of southern baptist girls during my single days. Some of 'em were the biggest freaks too, eating azz and wanting to suck your toes, etc. Just don't EVER give in and meet the family!!!!
Although, I have found dancing tends more to lead to sex than the other way around.
