The doctor may not care, perhaps he's not a Christian...the article doesn't say. However, I would imagine Jesus would heal/ cure the person who walks through the door of his practice, according to the Bible, Jesus had substantial medical care abilities. Just a thought.

What would Jesus do?

By the way......I'm so phuckin sick of the CONK bullsh*t in this country. Please get your sorry *ss states to secede and be done with it! We'll see who makes out better in the long run!
One thing Jesus would NOT do is say, "go forth and have government make OTHER PEOPLE take care of the sick." He'd say "YOU take care of people." This thing of acting like the "Christian" thing is to vote in a way that forces other people to be charitable is ridiculous. No. the "Christian" thing to do is for YOU voluntarily to take care of other people. You don't take steps to force other people to do it.

As for secession, I would fully support a "split up" of the United States. We have reached a point in history where people differ enough regionally in their beliefs about the role of government that a spit up of the United States would be appropriate. That was brought home to me just yesterday when I saw a link to a map showing how different congressional districts vote in the Presidential election. Looking at that map it looks like the whole country has a President that won the majority vote in about maybe 20% of the area in the country. Certainly less than 30%.

We've reached the point where our interests have diverged enough to justify establishment of separate nations.

Here's that map I was talking about:

http://innovation.cq.com/atlas/district_08" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

No way I, living in Louisiana, should have to live under a President elected by that kind of geographical distribution. I don't know exactly how it should be divided up. Might have to be three countries instead of two. But all that "red" area shouldn't be governed by a guy elected by heavily concentrated majority vote among those living in the "blue" area. Nor should it be governed by a Congress like that.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth

But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

If we were to split we'd be probably be at war in no time if the current state of affairs in DC is any indication.

The red states would invade the blue states, but would get bogged down and not have an exit strategy. We'd all end up speaking Canadian.

Yes, I'd love to see that. Just make sure Alaska is with us since that's how their majority policial orientation goes. Then we'll see how you people on the fringes...the exterme northeast, the midwest along the Canadian border, the border with Mexico and the immediate West Coast do.

When I look at the area in red vs. the area in blue, I'd feel very good about the red area being able to get by without the blue. A lot better than I'd feel if I was in a blue area thinking about getting by without the red..

No they wouldn't because the blue area doesn't have anything the red area would want. On the other hand, the red area would have the overwhelming preponderance of the country's energy reserves. The blue would include coastal California, which is an energyarea. But coastal Californians would refuse to make use of what they have. And even if they didn't, the red area would still have way more in terms of energy reserves than the blue area does. Way more in natural resources in general. Way more in food production. So on and so forth.

Believe me, when you look at that map, the red area could get by way better without the blue than the blue could ge along without the red. The red would be just fine without the blue.

Even before the 21 percent cuts, increasing numbers of doctors refused to take Medicare patients, as the Medicare reimbursements are tiny compared to private insurance reimbursements, not even factoring in the cost and time of the additional paperwork, audits and hassle of collecting from the government bureaucracy. With a 21 percent cut in Medicare reimbursement, tens of thousands more doctors will refuse Medicare patients and the goal of getting more Americans health coverage will be countered by fewer available doctors. Medicare patients, our oldest Americans, will suffer, and a marketplace form of rationing will be imposed.
Much of this is incorrect (I should know, I work for a large medical practice.

If YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, Medicare is the most effiecent, fastest, most-hassle-free provider to collect from.

We get money from Medicare 14 days after we bill. No other provider comes close. Never been audited, because we follow Medicare's clear guidelines.

I wish all carriers were as good as Medicare - would reduce our office overhead tremendously.
OK, so you work for an office that accepts Medicare. However, many physicians do not accept it as it is, and that number is going to go up.

My father is a retired dentist, and he was the only dentist in Caswell County NC who took Medicare. In fact, he had referrals from all over Alamance, Guilford, Rockingham and Person Counties, because most dentists in those counties did not take Medicare. This was 25 years ago. The only reason Dad continued to take Medicare at a 50% reduction to his customary fees was because he was second generation (Granddad was a dentist, too) and so many of Dad's long time patients were also his father's. Some days he would say that it was so much easier to be a dentist in Caswell County if you were not from there and not tied to the community, then you could just not take Medicare with a clear conscience.

Dad's CPA did some numbers for him once, and it was determined that if he did nothing but Medicare, he would have operated at a loss after insurance and other fees/bills.

Just out of curiosity, Jon- did any of the doctors at your practice NOT accept Medicare? Have you ever worked for any that did not? If not, then you are just seeing one side of the picture.

Yes, I know. Given that we're all in the same country I have no problem with the system. I'm saying there's something to the idea that the time has come for different regions of this country to go their separate ways. I think that there's something to relative commonality within identifiable geographic areas. Right now I think there's a huge difference in terms of the general distributions of philosophies and outlooks between people in say, New York and California and people in, say, Texas and Georgia. I think there is a point at which people in a discrete geographic region should have the right to govern themselves without inteference from people in other regions. Somebody in Texas shouldn't have to swallow stuff they really don't like because an overwhelming majority of people in New York and California want it.

Of course the problem could also be solved by returning to a Federal government role consistent with the actual language and original understanding of the Constitution. That way the Federal government wouldn't even be considering getting involved in trying to ensure that everybody gets health care and wouldn't be doing a whole lot of other things it's doing, the states would be sovereign, and the everyday lives of people would be subject to rules controlled to a much greater extent by their local and state governments.

"Stuff" being a black man in the White House.

Pretty feeble, john; were you talking like this when the nation had to accept a President that got fewer votes than his opponent?
Yes, I have been talking like that probably since around the Bush/Gore election and I looked at the "Red/Blue" geographical distribution for the first time. I don't think I'm the only one who at least thought about it either. Remember the "Jesusland" map that went around in the early 2000s? I think that came from somebody on the left; and that's fine. Whoever did it recognized distinct regional division.

And no, "stuff" isn't a Black President. "Stuff" is things like the national government feeling like it has to ensure the well being of every individual, take away people's property rights over endangered species and envrinonmental fanaticism, refuse to fully utilize fossil fuel resources, etc. I'd vote in a heartbeat for somebody who has the philosophical outlook of Thomas Sowell and I don't think I'd be any happier with Al Gore as President than I would with Barak Obama being President.

The geograpical distribution looked a little different this last time, john. USA gained some geography and dumbfcvkistan lost some geography. And most of the red geography that didn't turn blue recently is quite sparsely settled.

We can't cede all that land to dumbfvckistan just because one person per square mile hates America, now, can we, john?

That was brought home to me just yesterday when I saw a link to a map showing how different congressional districts vote in the Presidential election. Looking at that map it looks like the whole country has a President that won the majority vote in about maybe 20% of the area in the country. Certainly less than 30%.

We've reached the point where our interests have diverged enough to justify establishment of separate nations.
If we were to split we'd be probably be at war in no time if the current state of affairs in DC is any indication.

The red states would invade the blue states, but would get bogged down and not have an exit strategy. We'd all end up speaking Canadian.
Of course the blue states would eventually get fed up and apply the strong pimp hand.....
You matter. Unless you multiply yourself by c squared. Then you energy.

All of our doctors take Medicare, and always have. Medicare has made great strides in paying timely - they have now become the most efficient payor. And with a majority of plans paying at Medicare or near Medicare rates, you have to operate your practice efficiently as well to make good money, but it is acheivable.

Now if the 21% rate cut takes effect permenantly, then that proposition becomes much harder.
