According to Gallup, tea party activists are demographically "...representative of the public at large."

Also of note, 51% of tea party activists are non-Republicans.

Yes, and according to the same article, 8% consider themselves Democrats, 7% consider themselves liberal, and 16% have a college degree, yet 89% admit to shopping at wal-mart on a weekly basis.

OK, I made up that last bit about Wal-mart. :thumb:

I realize your post was made in good humor, kalm, but I hope all you leftwing numbnuts and wannabees continue to make fun of tea partiers through the next three election cycles. :thumb:

You might disappoint Juan Williams, though.

You know you could be right.

With 16% of tea baggers having a college degree, the Democrats might just actually be losing the low-information voting block. :coffee:

That's great. When will Tea Party be President? See, it's all well & good to compare Obama against an "idea", but it's apples to oranges. Put a face to the Tea Party & let's see how they do. I doubt Sarah Palin would garner 48% to Obama's 44% if there was an election today & she was the Tea Party candidate....pretty much bet my vacation on that one.

Nobody made the claim that the "Tea Party" is fielding a candidate, Appy. The point is that Obama is failing our country by continuing to belittle and marginalize tea partiers, and by ignoring the mainstream center-right issues that they care about.

How do you dispute that? The PATRIOT Act, the prescription-drug bill, warrantless wire-tapping, Department of Homeland Security--all of these were protested by the so-called tea-party members? I didn't see the outrage and protest by the Tea Party then...though, those policies did push me to leave the Republican Party. :thumb:

When a white President ran roughshod over our civil liberties and spent us into oblivion with unnecesary invasions, the so-called "Tea Party" was nowhere to be found.

:ohno: Listen to them bleat now. I'd have a lot more respect for them if they would just be upfront about their real issue.

Let's have Christ our President
Let us have him for our king
Cast your vote for the Carpenter
That you call the Nazarene
The only way we can ever beat
These crooked politician men
Is to run the money changers out of the temple
Put the Carpenter in
O It's Jesus Christ our President
God above our king
With a job and a pension for young and old
We will make hallelujah ring
Every year we waste enough
To feed the ones who starve
We build our civilization up
And we shoot it down with wars
But with the Carpenter on the seat
Way up in the Capital town
The USA would be on the way
Prosperity Bound!

Whatever....SOMETHING ultimately triggers outrage....there's a lot of hypocrisy in their venom, but there's a lot of pent up disgust with the overall state and direction of the country as well.

Of course there's pent up disgust, but there's a clever way to go about it, and the tea party way. I just find the timing odd...why did they wait so long?

Obama made a lot of promises that quieted pre-election fears of his latent marxism and gave people hope that he would govern as a moderate. Now that he turns out to be both dishonest and incompetent, people are outraged that his promises turned out to be false, so they are rising up. People in a free republic should not have had to worry about the kinds of surreptitious and dangerous changes Obama is foisting upon us, but they no longer have much of a choice.

I was outraged about Obama long before the election results. Obama's stripes are not a surprise to me. But most people did not see it coming.

What crazy Marxist things has he done that he promised not to do?
The big promise was one of open government. The reality has been a bolshevist style tyrannnical process.

The bailouts on Obama's watch have been an overreach and arguably marxist.

The appointment of marx-loving czars has been an outrage.

Obama's major domestic legislation and policy initiatives have arguably started us down the slippery slope towards marxist solutions. You don't have to agree with the slippery slope argument and you can argue against it, but you cannot say the slippery slope argument is not a valid argument for consideration.

Correctamundo, unfortunately. But hopefully it is a short term phenomenon.

Reminds me of the story about the guy who kept pestering the pharmacist for some "smart" pills. After several refusals, the pharmacist finally gathered up a mess of rabbit turds, painted them with a candy coating, and gave them to the customer.

A few months later the outraged customer strorms in to the pharmacy and complains, "Those smart pills you gave me were really rabbit turds!"

The pharmacist calmly replied, "See? Those smart pills are working already!"

How many more fvcking Obama "smart pills" do we have to take before we finally figure him out?

Any change from other Administrations? Or just the status quo?

The bailouts on Obama's watch have been an overreach and arguably marxist.
Bush was a Marxist too then?

This I honestly have no clue about. Any links?

Obama's major domestic legislation and policy initiatives have arguably started us down the slippery slope towards marxist solutions. You don't have to agree with the slippery slope argument and you can argue against it, but you cannot say the slippery slope argument is not a valid argument for consideration.
Valid? Sure. But just because you have an argument doesn't make it a good one. Slipperly slope is the argument of last resort for any advocate. It means you have no evidence of anything but far removed "possibilities".
