Re: National Enquirer says, "Obama Cheating Scandal"
I guess I've never seen in the past where a fella that was president that cheated on his wife was a poor leader because of that. Hell I haven't even seen a correlation between cheaters and poor leadership.
You can say it makes a difference if you want to but as far as I'm concerned I couldn't give a fuck. It ain't my relationship.
There isn't a one of you that hasn't known and/or worked with someone that was a cheater and probably, if honest, would say they were still able to perform their work at the same level.
It's a great side show though.

To me it's more about the vulnerability. It leaves the president potentially open to bribery, blackmail, etc. It also speaks to a person's honesty. Those are some serious "weaknesses" if you ask me.Ursus A. John McCain had an affair with his first wife... with Cindy McCain. He's admitted it.
How often have you criticized him for that? Zero?

McCain is a different matter. His divorce was no contest and he remains friends with his first wife.
Re: National Enquirer says, "Obama Cheating Scandal"
The problems are 3-fold:
First that it's going to be a huge distraction (especially since the National Enquirer now has enough credibility after being right, and impactful, on John Edwards - mainstream reporters will now start asking pointed questions).
Second that it's going to hurt a lot of Obama's strongest supporters - they'll still support him, but their opinion of him will come down a notch. "Enthusiasm" for the president is vital for both reelection and the mid-terms.
Third, his daughters will be sad.

Person A spends 6 years as a POW, returns to the real world and finds he has little in common with his wife, has an affair while NOT a politician, admits it, divorces his first wife and marries the woman to whom he is currently married.
Person B has an affair with a staffer WHILE a politician, and shortly thereafter runs for President and is elected...he's NEVER admitted it and remains married to the woman he cheated on.
Yeah. I can see how you'd see that those two situations are exactly alike.

Do you realize how silly it looks when you do this kind of shit? Either it matters and it goes to personal integrity or it doesn't. Both men were weak for the pussy of another. JFC if Obama can be blackmailed or bribed then at least it would give those of us that ain't real fond of what he is doing a chance at getting some sweet conservative style pussying in there and get some of this government take over bullshit to stop.
If YOU yourself want to have any integrity on the issue then you have to choose a column and stay with your mantra no matter WHO dows this shit. Very few Conservatives or Liberals on this board do that.

Yes, I noticed the hairs you were splitting and they are the same thing. Both men got tired of their current pussy and had an opportunity for some new pussy. They did that in spite of the women standing by them and going through anguish that their men were the direct cause of. I ain't too amped up it over it.AZGrizFan wrote:Ease up there, big fella. Re: National Enquirer says, "Obama Cheating Scandal"
Those who think cheating is no big deal have probably never had a spouse cheat on them and explained it to children.
Those who think lying is no big deal have never had to deal with a lying spouse.
When a person can't keep the most basic vows- made in front of his family, his spouse and his God- of fidelity and uphold the trust of those closest to him- his wife and children- then how the hell can anybody trust him and entrust the greatest nation in the world to him? Upon what moral compass and ethos will he make decisions that affect us all?
Character is doing the right thing when nobody is looking and one of the most reliable predictors of good leadership is good character.
How many classrooms have you ever seen in elementary schools that have a portrait of the current sitting president on the wall? Do you want your child to strive to become that? A cheater? A liar? One who will figuratively put a knife in the back of his wife and children?
The predictable posts of "Well McCain did it, Gingrich did it" aren't worth a shit and are weak. They neither excuse, justify, nor explain the horrible behavior. First, they are every bit as wrong as Obama and second, neither of them are the president. When you are the "leader of the free world" you SHOULD be held to a higher standard.
To defend abhorrant behavior for the sake of political expediency is devoid of character and says the exact same thing to me about the person defending the behavior as it does about the philanderer. Now let's see if the MSM picks up this story...
