The guy on the right is Tim Scott. He started out on the Charleston County COuncil if I remember correctly. I met him several times while I was on the PD down there. A very practical, down to earth guy. Ironically, his socio-political beliefs run pretty much with the Democratic Party in SC, but his ideas on fiscal and spending policy place him squarely on the conservative side.

They had people in period dress form different eras, including civil war reenactors like the senator. The other two people pictured are gullah storytellers dressed as artisans of the period. They are not portraying slaves or freedmen. So, next time you see a picture, do a little research before you let your own personal prejudices cause you to jump to conclusions and make fools of yourselves.

Gullah culture was, of course, heavily represented due to its wide draw. And of course, the War of Northern Aggression was also heavily represented for the same reason. My favorite part of SC history is pre-columbian.
You like that? I thought that would get a rise out of someone. I can't remember where I heard that one. I think it was from Citdog.houndawg wrote:death dealer wrote:Apparently it was a pretty interesting event. It highlighted points of interest in the history of SC, particularly the lowcountry.
