I can't relate to how anyone can see how the union/public worker side has been conducting itself and not find it disgusting. It's been clear that their strategy has been to employ shrill rhetoric and intimidation. And teachers: If you want to be perceived as professionals, act like professionals. The teachers clogging up the Wisconsin capital facilities and participating in those protests haven't been doing that.

Just amazing to me that ANYBODY who isn't a long time fanatic union sympahtizer would take the union side in this case. But it's apparently been happening if the polling data are to be believed.
:ohno: Jesus, John, where have you been for the past couple of years, Mars?

Wisconsin in such dire financial straits that the governor cuts a couple hundred million in corporate taxes, and then says that teachers are the problem, and folk like you just wipe off your chin and nod?

When billions of taxpayer dollars were being showered on Wall Street scum rewarding their colossal incompetence, contracts were sacrosanct, and we got stuck paying obscene bonuses to the worst fockups on the planet; now we need to change the rules because it turns out that a bunch of gray-haired schoolteachers are the real problem? :ohno:

Pretty obvious why the Koch's getting it handed to them.
I didn't agree with any of the bailouts, but you're obviously unaware: most of the bank bailout money has been paid back in full + interest. Yet all you do is criticize the bank bailouts on "Wall Street scum" yet don't level the same, much less greater crticism of the true scum because they have only paid back a fraction of their bailout $ and likely will never reinburse the taxpayers in close to full: those at Fannie, Freddie, AIG, Govt motors and Chrysler (both management and the UAW).

Gray haired schoolteachers. You see many gray haired school teachers amongst all those protesters? All those ones breaking into the capital bldg look like a bunch of 20 something punks.

Gray haired school teachers and "wall street scum" Nice attempt to divert from the fact that these are generously paid (esp considering the teachers) as its not a year round job, with cadillac penison and health care plans that they were paying litlle to nothing for, and to keep that up the tapped out taxpayers would have seen their taxes continue to go up (esp property taxes), and that collective bargaining for public employees is an inherent conflict of interest.

This a victory for the taxpayers of Wisconsin and a victory against forced unionization.

It'll be simple enough to prove...the letters were emailed...

...DOJ will be able to reverse the header IP.

Considering the leftist activists track record over the past half-century, my money is on some union thug or dumbshit wanna-be badass student-protester...hope they get prison time...sends a strong message to keep your emotions in check.

Let's do a quick quiz here... why do you think a state in dire financial circumstances would cut corporate taxes?
except that they WERE NOT in "dire financial straits". and still aren't.

they faced a deficit of $85 million... not really that bad compared to most. Walker then cut $105 million in corporate taxes to push the deficit to $190 million - still not that big of a deal compared to most states...

no no... make no mistake - Walker's hand wasn't "forced" this was an agenda from day one... and this "crisis" was drummed up and is a complete strawman
Bulls**t. Wisconsin is in dire financial straights. A 2 yr projected budget deficit of 3.6 billion is HUGE for a state of only about 5.7 million.

State's 2-year budget deficit grows to $3.6 billion
"...Walker's administration pegged the shortfall for this fiscal year at $137 million and projected the shortfall for the two-year budget beginning on July 1 at $3.6 billion.

That last number was an increase over previous estimates that had gone as high as $3.3 billion, though it includes requested increases in spending by state agencies that would not necessarily have to be granted....."

Wisconsin state Rep. Mark Pocan says Gov. Scott Walker’s estimate of a $3.6 billion state budget deficit is a ‘bogus figure’

Experts say the figure is on target

You're just too easy going, Alphie.

After two weeks of threats, cowardice, hiring of mercenaries to intimidate businesses and politicians, a Dem rep. exclaiming "You're fucking dead" to Republicans on the Wisconsin senate floor, sending death threat emails to Republican senators...so serious that three Senators were advised by protective details to cancel public appearances over safety concerns...

...it's inexcusable that shit-for-brains like TTBoy, Jellydonunt, Klown, et al, DEFENDING THE DEMOCRATS APPALLING CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR??????

Do I need to explain why I can never support liberalism?

Walker's too political, but were I governor, I'd mobilize the National Guard...

...issue them new, custom riot sticks...

...and a pay incentive for each one they get...

The protesters in Tunisia and Egypt did not repeatedly threaten the lives of democratically elected officials, and their families, for refusing to vote to benefit a minority of workers to the detriment of the entire constituency and governmental solvency.

Run along back over to your Neo-Nazi thread, Axmann.

How many of the protesters who you suggest should be assaulted actually did that? Deal with the ones who threaten people, leave the rest alone.

And I love how anyone who even thinks the word 'Germany' is a Neo-Nazi.

True, but that isn't the case when teacher unions are involved. In states like Wisconsin, qualifications don't matter, seniority does. A teacher with 5 years on the job with 5 teacher of the year awards will get canned before a 30 year slug who couldn't teach anyone to add 2 & 2 does. :coffee:

Wisconsin's Governor Wins, but Is He Now Dead Man Walker?

By Dawn Reiss
Saturday, Mar. 12, 2011

http://www.time.com/time/nation/article ... 01,00.html
The Wisconsin State Capitol had taken on an eerie quiet by late Friday. Gone were the throngs of protesters who had occupied its marble floors like it were a summer campground. The midnight honking of cars circling the white building had ceased. The chalk outlines around fake dead bodies etched with Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker's name remained in dismembered parts, not yet completely washed away by hoses.

It was the governor, however, who had walked away the legislative victor in the showdown. On Friday, as angry protesters chanted "Shame" and blew horns and vuvuzelas, Walker took up a dozen pens, one at a time, to sign into law a bill that not only takes away the ability of unions to bargain collectively over pensions and health care but also limits pay raises of public employees to the rate of inflation and ends automatic union dues collection by the state. It also requires public unions to recertify annually. It was a coup by Wisconsin Republicans against the labor movement in one of its strongholds.
...and the Times' reporter goes on to paint the protesters as "non-violent".

Really?????

Homicide victim chalk outlines with Gov. Walker's name drawn in them...

...and the protesters were "civil"???????
Times Comrade Reiss wrote: "...even as observers thought the remarkably peaceful demonstrations..."
The fuck they were!

But most notably...

...isn't the Times considered a "national" publication?

HotAir blogspot had a reader comment...
So the title of the Time article is “Wisconsin’s Governor Wins But Is He Still Dead Man Walker?”

What if after Obamacare passed the media had something like “President Obama Wins But Is He Still Dead Man Obama?”
DOJ and Secret Service would be kicking in the editor's door poste-haste.

More thoughtless, hypocritical liberalism.

It is sickening what the main stream media is doing in regards to not reporting what is going on in Wisconsin.

That thug mob should be dealt with by our military and put in their place.

:ohno:
So was it "the Times" article you were citing or "Time's" article?
