Palin was useless, and a joke. To me so is the idea of appointing Caroline Kennedy. The party "of the poor" believes only the rich can save the poor. That's quite odd to me.
Why? What do you know about her? Her name holds alot of clout. If I were a NYer I would be giddy as hell to have her.
 Her name holds a lot of clout. Whoopty, fokkin do. So does George Bush's. This is what blows my mind. Nepotism is criticized when it was the Bushes, but not when it's on the Democrats' side.

Keep in mind D, I'm not saying she wouldn't do a good job (none of us know that), I am simply saying the most important qualification she has going for her is her name, is that enough? Should it be enough? I don't think so. Sure, she has done many things, and worked with the poor and disadvantaged. So has Jenna Bush...what does that mean?

The last time NC elected someone whose name carried "a lot of clout" we got Liddy Dole...thank God that's over. Perhaps, it's not always the best thing. Honestly, you like her because you think she will support liberal policies (and she's not a conk). Would you be giddy if she were a Republican, with the same name (and supposed clout)?

You're doing a lot of extrapolation and assumption in your post, Mountie, 'specially with the highlighted. What's with the "nepotism criticized" thing regarding Bush?

Just joining the fray, of course no liberal generalization flags thrown out. Anyways, It was all the rage in 2000 about Bush getting nominated because of Nepotism and his dad. (I'm not talking cronism, which is equally as bad on both side--no generalization there, just a fact).

What else is extrapolated and assumed? I feel the same about D1B's post stating she (Caroline Kennedy) is qualified based on name and college. That assumes quite a bit, especially when you consider other Harvard grads.

Just point out that things despised on one side exist on the other. Ralph didn't like it when I did that on AGS...guess it's the same here.

Oh, bullsh*t, Mountie. That's what I thought you'd say. I, myself, don't recall any "nepotism" sh*t at all back then. Dad didn't grease any skids for him. MOF, Dad was still a bit of a pariah back then. Dubya won on his own (and I hate to say this), gulp, "merit".

Then, re CK, he was comparing her to Community College Cathy from Alaska. There's no comparison. Simple as that. You're dealing in gross superficialities, bud.

Finally, fvck Ralph and fvck AGS. Ralph ain't here and this ain't AGS.

Sounds a bit like your posts. Not trying to be a dick, but it's not just the righties here that do that. I don't know how to say what I've already said, but I did not compare her to Palin. I said Palin was a joke, but the idea of CK being qualified for her post is a joke too. I'm not comparing them or their "merit."

As to Bush, even you have to admit CK doesn't have the "merit" Bush had. She has her name and her good deeds, he had at least held public office. Maybe you don't remember the nepotism back in 2000 (too much pigeon love maybe :)), but I do (I'm SAD to say I worked for his campaign locally--we all have regrets...so we heard it a lot).

Can you please tell me why you're defending her so much? Because she's a liberal elite? I'm really not understanding, for someone who defends the poor--why a rich, white girl, whose daddy was president, deserves to receive a [lifetime] appointment. Again, I am not saying she wouldn't do a fine job, but isn't there anyone else in NY that has done something besides live off of her family's money? Many people would love to do the work she's done, but they don't have nest eggs (they didn't earn) to do such work. That's a fact, no superficialities there.

Sometimes people with differing opinions have valid points. Luckily you haven't said I am Rushgergetating...just saying...it's not bullshit, I know it happened. Still doesn't change the point, but I'll drop the nepotism if that's a bit of concern.

Why does she deserve to be a Senator? What has she done that shows she understands the economy, federal government workings, foreign policy? She wouldn't even answer the questions...honestly, what has she done that shows she is ready to be a United States Senator?

I don't have to defend Palin, I didn't vote for her...and wouldn't. Thank God I didn't make the same mistake as I made before (voting against someone--thus voting for a massive tool).

We could just throwout the election system and annoint Queen Caroline from the House of Kennedy. Once Obama turns things around. Appology to Monte Python but we could derive Supreme executive power from some farcical aquatic ceremony, open to only blue bloods.

Hey, bizzle, I ain't defending her. I don't even think she should get the job! But, if we're going to compare her to the Alaska Whizkid, you'll get an argument.

You hurt your argument when you do this: Why does she deserve to be a Senator? What has she done that shows she understands the economy, federal government workings, foreign policy? She wouldn't even answer the questions...honestly, what has she done that shows she is ready to be a United States Senator?

Assuming.

And this: Can you please tell me why you're defending her so much? Because she's a liberal elite? I'm really not understanding, for someone who defends the poor--why a rich, white girl, whose daddy was president, deserves to receive a [lifetime] appointment. Again, I am not saying she wouldn't do a fine job, but isn't there anyone else in NY that has done something besides live off of her family's money?

Assuming and superficial. And, hateful. SMFH

Look at Bush's track record, in anything he's done - he was an utter failure. If he succeeded I wouldn't have a problem. I like Arnold in Calif and think he's doin a great job.

Do you even know what a senator does? Who would you want arguing a case for your state on the senate floor, Carolyn Kennedy or Jenna Bush/Sarah Palin or George Bush.

Put the Kennedy shit aside and do some research into her individual qualifications, she's sharp, compassionate and can raise money like a motherfukcer. These are very important qualities for a US senator. You may not like it, but clout is important in Washington.
"Sarah Palin absolutely blew AWAY the audience tonight. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."

Possibly, I'd have to learn more about Jeb's qualifications, like you fukcs need to do regarding Kennedy.

One reservation I or a floridian would/should have is the Bush name is poison right now.

I think Kennedy would be fine, but I supported Palin (not McCain) for VP, even though I didn't vote for them. The only difference between the 2 is the party affiliation and the reaction of the news media to a conservative female candidate vs a Kennedy candidate.

Depends on the media - a lot of the media fawned over "Caribou Barbie" at first. Conservative media still is fawning over her.

It does depends on the media, but it was a blitz by CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, NY Times, LA Times, Etc. Add in the liberal blogs and it was an avalanche.

That's MY POINT!!! To ME, the Kennedy name is poison. I don't give a fcuk if she walks on water, she's a friggin' KENNEDY. You want to coronate her BECAUSE she's one....
