I worked or a company that capped raises at 3% while boasted about multi billion dollar profits. I was promised raises my last two years and never once did I see an increase. They did provide bad insurance so I ate those costs.UNI88 wrote:I received no pay raises in the last 3 years of my old job and had to pick up an increasing portion of the cost of my healthcare so I my take-home pay was reduced as well. Things were going downhill during Dubya's administration, I can't blame everything on Obama. That last 10 years have been pretty miserable from a political leadership perspective.89Hen wrote: BTW, Mrs89 has had to take a pay cut in two of the last three years at her salaried job.
I'm working on it.D1B wrote:You could go anywhere in the nation and get a great paying job and ultimately be better off.AZGrizFan wrote:I lost my job when my company was merged into another, and I've been a geographic bachelor for almost 2 years now, only getting home on weekends. I'm able to pay the bills, but am hardly better off. The only reason I'm a geographic bachelor is because I'd rather do that than sit on my ass and collect unemployment in phoenix.
Is that even legal?89Hen wrote:Chizzang wrote:

Funny thing is my wife and the wives of three of my closest friends are all attorneys. Go figure.

Similar situation here - '08-'10 no raises or 401K match, then caps at 2.5% and 3.0% the last two years with resumption of 401K match. All in all I'm about even factoring in inflation.Ibanez wrote:I worked or a company that capped raises at 3% while boasted about multi billion dollar profits. Income is up, but I'm working longer days and doing work at home on weekends now, thanks largely to the slowing effect of our shift to computor documentation, and tntc corporate initiatives coming across my desk - many of which are stimulated by the need for increased documentation to govt and private insurance payors.
Worried about the future as my employer doesn't have a mechanism is place for those of my age to taper our workloads. Would be so happy to look ahead to a 3 day work week, but I don't see it happening.

That's not your doing either....someone else did it for you....Ibanez wrote:I have a better job than I did 4 years ago, but that wasn't Obama's doing. I'm slightly better off than I was 4 years ago.

Yes, yes it is. But I've had one job or another since I was 14, so the adjustment hasn't been all that tough for me.SunCoastBlueHen wrote:That real world thing is a bitch, ain't it?clenz wrote:Although I do have a job now, I am paying exponentially more in bills now.....

Whether or not I am better off 4 years ago has little to do with who I vote for.
