I don't disagree with the premise, Cappy. But, Obama did himself no favors trying to come out early and sound tough. His subsequent inaction led to him appearing to be weak and simply posturing. Anyone with a brain knows that there is little the US can do. I for one don't care if he takes Ukraine.

There really isn't a good option on Ukraine, just like Syria. But in both instances, Putin made us blink after our bloviating about some large response which was ignored and we backed down. If we choose to do nothing, don't waste everybody's time and raise everyone's blood pressure by drawing imaginary red lines that you have no intention of actually enforcing.

Nothing much to add after these posts. That pretty much hit the nail on the head.

I will just add that it will be interesting to see where Putin decides to stop. Clearly whatever parts of Ukraine he wants are there for the taking. Putin absolutely pwned it and ran circles around EU and the West. IMO it does not serve Russia’s interests for this thing to go hot. Nobody stood up to this power move and his military didn’t even need to fire a shot, why bother complicating things by involving serious military action. Pure pwnage.
