but thank you for playing.
Hydraulic fracturing was still an experimental process in the early 1950's. It became commercially viable on a wider scale in the 1970's with the advances in horizontal drilling, and began exploding in the late 1990's (you know, like I said, "as we know it today") with the advancement and adoption of different techniques such the "slickwater" technique.

I never said that, but you know it already. You stepped in shit (again) and got called out on it (again), and now you're deflecting.....again.
Fracking is the main reason for the price drop. You know it, the Saudis certainly know it, Chizz knows it, all the experts know it, etc. Fracking isn't causing the oil companies to dump extra oil on the market lowering the price, but it is making the US less dependent on middle eastern oil. Since the US is the worlds #1 consumer of oil, the Saudis (OPEC) are pissed and are flooding the market with oil to drive the price down to drive the frackers out of business. It's simple economics, even for a simpleton like you.
Also, China...

Your fracking claim is a lame self-serving argument conks use to defend their shortsighted energy policies.
Re: Yes, Michelle, There is a Santa Claus. His Name is Bara
You called me out on something I did not say. Please feel free and quote my statement where I said that fracking was "solely" (your word, not mine) responsible for the drop in oil prices. I provided the quote also stating that China increased their imports of oil through the first 3 quarters of 2014 by 8.3%. You're the one who claimed that the demand in China was down last year. Another point where you were wrong...again.D1B wrote:Yes you did say it and I called you on it.
You better let the idiot analysts know how wrong they are. That you even say it's "the main reason" now further betrays your stunning ignorance of the world oil market.
Your fracking claim is a lame self-serving argument conks use to defend their shortsighted energy policies.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/01/ ... 6V20150105Oil has plunged nearly 55 percent in value since June, when Brent traded above $117 a barrel and U.S. crude above $107.
The selloff, which began on concerns of oversupply in high quality U.S. shale crude, accelerated after the OPEC meeting in November, when Saudi Arabia ruled out production cuts as a means of boosting prices. The kingdom reasoned that reducing output will hurt its market share instead.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/ ... story.htmlThe law of supply and demand did it. The price collapse mainly reflects too much supply chasing too little demand. Most analysts have focused on surging U.S. production of “shale” oil, which has increased by 3.5 million barrels a day (mbd) since 2008, according to the consultancy IHS. But the U.S. expansion was widely anticipated, says economist Larry Goldstein.
http://www.vox.com/2014/12/16/7401705/o ... es-fallingBut as oil prices increased, many energy companies found it profitable to begin extracting oil from difficult-to-drill places. In the United States, companies began using techniques like fracking and horizontal drilling to extract oil from shale formations in North Dakota and Texas. In Canada, companies were heating Alberta's gooey oil sands with steam to extract usable crude.
This led to a boom in "tight oil" production. The US alone has added 4 million new barrels of crude oil per day to the global market since 2008. (Global crude production is about 75 million barrels per day, so this is significant.)
http://fortune.com/2014/10/15/whats-beh ... ve-to-say/The current free-fall in oil prices is drawing comparisons with the “bubble bursting” crash of 2008, although there are some key differences this time around, said Tarun Dang, managing partner with Trend-Wise Capital Management.
“While decline in demand was the key driver for the 2008 crash, the sharp drop in prices this time around is being caused by a supply glut. Continued growth in U.S. shale production and increase in non-OPEC countries oil exports have led to excess capacity,” he wrote in a note to clients.
http://www.economist.com/blogs/economis ... explains-4America has become the world’s largest oil producer. Though it does not export crude oil, it now imports much less, creating a lot of spare supply. Finally, the Saudis and their Gulf allies have decided not to sacrifice their own market share to restore the price. They could curb production sharply, but the main benefits would go to countries they detest such as Iran and Russia. Saudi Arabia can tolerate lower oil prices quite easily. It has $900 billion in reserves. Its own oil costs very little (around $5-6 per barrel) to get out of the ground.
The main effect of this is on the riskiest and most vulnerable bits of the oil industry. These include American frackers who have borrowed heavily on the expectation of continuing high prices.
Embarrassing you is getting too easy. It's not much fun anymore. I feel like a bully.
Now I know how Joltin Joe feels.

Wrong again, Badlie. Price drop primarily due to the Saudis keeping the taps on and a weak global economy.
Your hero frackers and the conks who stupidly prop them up with taxpayer money will be out of business soon.
How much you wanna bet gas skyrockets by say June or July? According to your fracking theory, it should be stable for a long time, after all, we're gonna be the largest producer.
I'll try to put this in terms you might be able to understand. If all the oil producers were a football team, the U.S. would be the scout team punter and Saudi Arabia (OPEC) is the coach, QB, O and D lines and both cornerbacks.
Your blind homerism is killing you.

Cost to produce barrel of oil:
Saudi Arabia - $10 - $17
Russia - $15 - $25
U.S. - $50 - $75
Oh, those poor oil companies and Cheneyburton. Obscene profits since the Bush Wars for Oil in '91 and '03 and now, they're hurting. American citizens bleed for them.

Again...the Saudis keeping the pumps on in an effort to drive the price of oil down to run the frackers out of business. What part of that is so hard for you to understand?
