Not a troll. Totally serious. Why people would give a shit that somebody killed every lion on the friggin' planet much less ONE of those disgusting things is beyond me. They really are disgusting animals. Just watch the nature shows.
$50,000 to bait and kill, or try to anyway, a half-tame scavenger at night?
He definitely shares JSO's asshole gene and like him is living testament that money and class are two different things.
Just because he lived part of the time in a National Park does not mean he was half-tame. The lion was 13 years old, average life-span 12-13 years. I wouldn't be surprised if the park and guides arranged to dispose of an aging animal and make some money off of it. Lots of these types of money exchanges happen in the world. Older lions are the most dangerous to humans, seeking easy meals, and humans are easy to catch. Lions attack between 500-750 people per year in Africa, and kill and eat many of those attacked. The story is presented by the press as the guy being a real idiot. Anyone that hunts with a bow or crossbow knows that they will be likely be tracking the animal after it is hit. Maybe a day, maybe 2, find the animal and shoot it if needed. I would like to know what really happened before passing judgement on this guy. Not jumping on the media sheeple-chase on this one.
"In early July, I was in Zimbabwe on a bow hunting trip for big game. I hired several professional guides and they secured all proper permits. To my knowledge, everything about this trip was legal and properly handled and conducted.
"I had no idea that the lion I took was a known, local favorite, was collared and part of a study until the end of the hunt. I relied on the expertise of my local professional guides to ensure a legal hunt.
"I have not been contacted by authorities in Zimbabwe or in the U.S. about this situation, but will assist them in any inquiries they may have.
"Again, I deeply regret that my pursuit of an activity I love and practice responsibly and legally resulted in the taking of this lion."

Nobody said he was an idiot. But I don't see anybody challenging him for Asshole of the Year.

Hunting is a coward’s pastime. If, as has been reported, this dentist and his guides lured Cecil out of the park with food so as to shoot him on private property, because shooting him in the park would have been illegal, he needs to be extradited, charged, and, preferably, hanged. To get a thrill at the cost of a life, this man gunned down a beloved lion, Cecil with a high-powered weapon. All wild animals are beloved by their own mates and infants, but to hunters like this overblown, over-privileged little man, who lack empathy, understanding, and respect for living creatures, they are merely targets to kill, decapitate, and hang up on a wall as a trophy. The photograph of this dentist, smiling over the corpse of another animal, who, like Cecil, wanted only to be left in peace, will disgust every caring soul in the world.

Not going to get into a discussion over the difference between an asshole and an idiot.
This is f'ing comical. Bunch if libtards making a big deal about a 1 time game violation. Kill babies and sell baby parts, eh, no big deal. But god forbid you illegally take a lion...

Did we have a thread on the defenseless American woman that was killed by a lion in Africa in June?
"I think, for the internationals, they do sometimes come here with the idea that it is a bit of Disney World thing, where these are tame lions. And I think that is a problem. I think it does need to be stressed that these are still wild animals even if they were born in captivity," Lion Park Assistant Operations Manager Scott Simpson said.

Wow, you're getting pretty worked up over this one...
However: This event does present an interesting study of the American dilemma
Psychopathic animal & women's rights activist and baby killers on one side
Hard working Joe the Dentist middle American all around honorable man on the other
In a steel cage death match
Q: Name something that offends Republicans?
A: The actual teachings of Jesus

1). No one is "selling baby parts".
2). If Gil is right and you're knowingly going into a hunt anticipating the likelihood of wounding the animal with a cross bow and having to track it for days versus killing it with minimal suffering and respect, then you're kind of a douche.

Actually looks like he used a compound bow instead of a crossbow as some reports I have read. It's not desirable to have to track an animal, a good shot would be the best option.

Are you serious? Did you just sarcastically shrug off illegally killing an animal?
Do you think American's aren't bound by the laws of countries they visit? Or just when animals are involved?

Being a douche bag isn't a crime..
Response 1: did I say it was?
