I didn't watch the whole debate... so, can't really comment on it overall.

But, the moderator asked Ted Cruz about the debt limit compromise and his opposition to it. And, that prompted Ted Cruz to complain about not being asked about "substantive issues that people care about"?

Wat?

:?
Ted had to do something last night to stir things up, given where his numbers are. These debates -- on both sides -- are just theater, not substance. That describes the whole political discourse these days. :twocents:

Yeah it wasn't THAT question that got his gander up....it was the 7-8 questions PRIOR to that which had no substance.

I watch CNBC every day, all day. I am shocked at several of the questions. I would be very interested in who wrote them. Harwood is a Donk. While his reporting is generally middle of the road, his body language is always leaning to the left. Becky Quick is a Conk. I'm not sure what questions she wrote but would be interested in knowing. Carl Quintanilla rarely slants one way or the other. He is a good journalist for that reason IMO.

What I can't understand is how they can't identify the big problem right now and ask questions related to that. That problem is the inability for Congress to pass anything because of the lack of negotiations. The big questions should have been: "As President, how will you reach across the aisle to gain acceptance to your proposals?"

Exactly. Ted had to say something. He's getting attacked by Florida for his hypocrisy. He's being told to either be a Congressman or resign.

This actually was a "smart" move on the side of the RNC. Let the liberal media moderate the debate and when they (the media) fuck it up, you come out looking good.

I'd like to see Fox News host a Democratic debate.

I don't have a problem with any candidate from any party being put on the spot in a debate, its what they're going to hear every day if they get elected.

And Bernie is right-the big problem is wealth inequality.

Put on the spot about true issues, sure. But Fantasy Football? Whether you think Trump is a comic-villain?
Is that how you determine what candidate to vote for?

One thing this proves is that the RNC did not screen the questions like the DNC. :coffee:

Why does Florida care about a Senator from Texas? Don't they have their own problems?

And when they did did that rare substantive question amidst all the gotcha attempts, it would be asked to one candidate, then only 1 or 2 others would get a chance to respond, and sometimes that was only because someone forcefully butted in. For every policy question was asked, it should have gone down the line with all 10 candidates given a chance to answer it.

It would take forever and the ones that answered first would be at a disadvantage due to preparation time.
Just about everyone has a tax policy (for example) that has been made public. I think they handled this issue correctly and asked specific candidates specific questions about their policies.

No. They asked someone else about whether what Fan Duel and Draft Kings does is considered gambling and should be regulated. Christie chimed in later to complain about a series of low substantive questions.

Why do I love all the "outrage" about the CNBC liberal media handling of the debate..?

Look at it this way:
For 20 years plus, the Republicans have been complaining about The LEFT Media control
and then they ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN with full knowledge and some 20 odd years to prepare against it

And we wonder why our country is run so poorly
Circa 1995 - Hey! here's 20 years of WARNING
oh thank you - but that's not quite enough time to make adjustments for the 2015 debate
Republicans: We really need just one more decade to prepare for this - we only had 20 years of forewarning

 F*cking stupidest sons of bitches on the planet run this country
and if you need proof this should suffice
Q: Name something that offends Republicans?
A: The actual teachings of Jesus
