Re: What Moderates Believe
What a bunch of crap. Like for instance the guy basically says there is no single truth then later says the important thing is the search for the truth.
It's the same old nonsense of trying to make "moderates" out to be these, wise, thoughtful people who see the complexity of the world that others don't see.
It's much simpler than that. Moderates in the political sense are people who don't know what the hell they want. They don't have any core principles. They just blow along with the wind looking to be seen as "enlightened" at any particular time.

Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

I don't know. But, the truth usually likes in the gray.
That probably makes me a homopussyfaggot.

Re: What Moderates Believe
Moderates don't want big government, which is exactly what the Reps and Dems represent. Lets make laws to prevent this and prevent that, or maybe require this or require that. These all take away from our freedoms to do what we want within reason. Moderates may be okay with a little tax, not a large tax, or minimal restrictions, not a complete ban.

David Brooks is redefining himself. Time was, he called himself a conservative. Now he wants to be known as a deep-thinking, dispute-resolving, good-deed-doer.

Think you're confusing moderates with libertarians..The 2 aren't necessarily the same.Gil Dobie wrote:Moderates don't want big government, which is exactly what the Reps and Dems represent. Depends what they want to liberally spend money on. If it's foreign aggression they're frequently called Neo-cons.BDKJMU wrote:What about conservative on social policy and liberal on fiscal policy?Gil Dobie wrote:Liberal on social policy and conservative on fiscal policy.

That's funny stuff coming from the guy who claimed to be an arch-conservative and then not only was against Trump (certainly not a mark against you) but was actually for Hillary and everything she stood for. Talk about blowing along with the wind, that's like blowing along with a hurricane.JohnStOnge wrote:What a bunch of crap.
