We'll see if they are powerless to do anything about it when we have the 2018 elections. If the Democrats take control of the House of Representatives Trump's life will become absolutely miserable. Right now I see that as somewhere near a 50:50 proposition. I think that unless something changes most people are going to want to see the Democrats take over the House. But the Republicans have done a good job of gerrymandering at the State level.

It's clear that most people do not approve of Trump. Also clear that the Republican Party is more unpopular than the Democrat Party is. Right now anyway. We'll see if that changes as time goes on between now and next November.
Yeah. To think we all were fooled by you saying you were a Libertarian.

Republican Gerrymandering, , take a look at Maryland. :dunce:
Both sides do it, but as a whole, Republicans do it better.

All I know is that Maryland used to be a 4-4 split in the House. It's now 7-1 in favor of the Democrats. My Rep, The Honorable Elijah Cummings, occasionally runs unopposed. It's completely worthless voting in the National elections. Maryland is a dark navy blue state. Not that I care, I have more in common with central I-95 corridor Marylanders than I do from Eastern Shore folks and even less than the Western Maryland WV wannabes. I have no clue how you big stater people can be grouped into people 4-5 hours away.

It's a lot easier when your whole state is one district. :thumb:

If the Democrats run anyone out there not named Kathleen Kennedy Townsend or Anthony Brown, he'll get upset next election.

But given the MD voter demographics it wouldn't really be an upset, would it? Just a sad reality... :ohno:

Ehrlich was a pretty popular Gov (57% approval in a blue state, not shabby) and he got the boot after one term by the idiot Dems in this state. O'Smelly's entire campaign was a sing song ad... Ehrlich Bush, Ehrlich Bush, nanny nanny boo boo... and people bought it. :dunce:

Yes gerrymandering is something both sides do. But, overall nationally, the Republicans have the advantage in that regard.

What I favor is going to an algorithm that looks at the geography and the population and distributes things. The algorithm would come as close as it could to dividing each state into internally contiguous geographic areas of equal size with each having equal population. No looking at demographics or party registrations as all.

Why don’t you work on that? Don’t post again until you come up with something.

No need. As I suspected it's already been done. All we need to do is apply it.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/won ... fcdf247ccc

Now all we need to do is convince all the States to do it. Or we could just convince the Judiciary to wait for the right case and say it's required.

Hey this is a good spot to mention an interesting development since we're talking about gerrymandering. It's this:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics ... 70a5919f26
The Supreme Court on Monday denied a request from Pennsylvania Republicans to delay redrawing congressional lines, meaning the 2018 elections in the state will most likely be held in districts far more favorable to Democrats.
What's particularly interesting is this:
The GOP leaders asked the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene, but Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. turned down their request for a stay without even referring the case to his colleagues. He gave no reason for the decision, but generally the Supreme Court stays out of the way when a state’s highest court is interpreting its own state constitution.
Alito's position is, I think, a conservative one. I think he was intellectually honest. But it is a reminder of the fact that getting conservative Judges into Federal Judicial seats doesn't mean Republicans are necessarily going to get what they want.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?
