Can't 25th Amendment me if I have no cabinet! *taps head*.

Theyd need around 15 "bipartisan" Dems to vote for itIbanez wrote:In my wildest dreams, it’ll be done by Christmas. With the Senate overriding a veto.

Not going to happen, and it wouldn't happen if the shoes was on the other foot, either

The Senate passed a spending bill with $1.5 billion for border security unanimously.CID1990 wrote:Theyd need around 15 "bipartisan" Dems to vote for itIbanez wrote:In my wildest dreams, it’ll be done by Christmas. With the Senate overriding a veto.

That’s not what I’m talking about, JuniorSkjellyfetti wrote:The Senate passed a spending bill with $1.5 billion for border security unanimously.CID1990 wrote:

It would have passed the House as well... but, Trump threw a temper tantrum in his meeting with Ryan... so, it didn't get a vote in the House.

Never mind that the majority of Americans don't want the stupid wall. Never mind that the stupid wall has ALWAYS been opposed by a majority of Americans.

Nope. But walls don’t always work and honestly- it’s placating the base. It’s placating youcss75 wrote:So all you naysayers are saying we should have open borders? Dems just want illegals here for votes, build the wall. The shutdown is not going to impact any vital devices, I went thru a fairly long one in the 90s.

You don’t read well, do you?Skjellyfetti wrote:46 Democrats in the Senate voted for $25 billion in wall funding last February.
Also rejected.

25 billion?
Check your math
Again, I’m talking about right now - POST ELECTION Congress, where the Dems won’t vote for one dollar over 1.5 billion
Stop trying so hard, it makes it more painful

They worked well at Jericho, Rome, Carthage, England/Scotland border. The Maginot Line, kinda of like a wall if you think about it, worked out great.css75 wrote:CID1990 wrote:

Places where there are walls work.

My sentiments exactly. And this AM the hyper-liberal Norfolk Virginian-Pilot had its' first reference to the shutdown on page 7. I guess this partial shutdown does not actually signify the end of the world.AZGrizFan wrote:I picked 6 weeks, although I was looking for the answer “not long enough”.

Let me guess- you’ll bring up the Great Wall. Or the Berlin Wall?
Why don’t we help these people from having to leave their homes. It’s the 21st Century, surely we don’t need to rely on a low tech wall that can be compromised by explosives, tunneling, ladders, etc....

Yeah, adding a couple thousand Hondurans and Guats might actually improve the gene pool of southeast LA.JohnStOnge wrote:Maybe some of you disagree but I think Trump's thought was a continuous wall along the entire US/Mexico border. I do not think that is a practical thought. I don't think it's a thought that a rational adult would've conceived. I don't think most of the people in the immediate vicinity of the border want anything like that. And I KNOW most people in the United States don't want it. When Trump pushes for this wall thing he is pushing against the will of a clear majority of the People.
