lol. I’ve been on the farm just 5 years. I’ve been to Puerto Rico and I’m a bit of a geography and history nerd. I spent summers in Seattle as a kid and traveled around the west coast and mountain states playing D1 golf and as a professional.

Not a banana republic was was seen here now or today. The closest you get is Idaho which is the Florida of the northwest.
I drove cross country a long time ago, I thought Idaho was spectacular…. Crossing over into Washington state was a bit depressing but Seattle more than made up for it

Visited Puerto Rico did ya…. Try to live here for a year ….
Eastern Washington’s border with area with Idaho looks exactly like…Idaho.

What made it depressing?

Idaho Washington?

Comparing lake/resort country (Coeur D Alene) to an actual city is " shall we say….. misleading". It's like comparing Lake George NY to Tallahassee, FL to make a city in a conservative state look bad.

I've driven across the Idaho panhandle and southern Idaho. It's a physically beautiful state. The politics there are just as fvcked up as New York but in the other direction.

FTR, eastern Washington is on the conservative side of the Cascade Curtain.

no "allegedly" about it - it happened and one of Trump's dumbest moves in a trial full of dumb moves was to deny that it happend; nobody on either side believes for a second that it didn't happen. What else is he lying about?

You hitch your wagon to a liar and lying becones contagious - Trump is not capable of feeling embarrassment or shame, it the secret to his success. :ohno:

He clearly violated a State law so he was charged by the State of NY. The Feds have much bigger fish of his to fry.

Unfortunately for the Donald's lying ass, that doesn't apply to a highly educated jury having two lawyers among its members

This thing was a slam dunk in yo face with no chance of acquital and a small chance of a hung jury and an even smaller chance of hanging it six times. :coffee:

Now if only SCOTUS will seal his fate by granting POTUS immunity for actions taken while President....the day after which will be Bye Bye Mar a Lago and Hello Guantanamo where Trump Tower will refer to the thing at the corner of the prison yard with a machine gun on it...

Trump supporters call for riots and violent retribution after verdict
Some called for attacks on jurors, the execution of the judge, Justice Juan Merchan, or outright civil war and armed insurrection.

“Someone in NY with nothing to lose needs to take care of Merchan,” wrote one commentator on Patriots.Win. “Hopefully he gets met with illegals with a machete,” the post said in reference to illegal immigrants.

On Gateway Pundit, one poster suggested shooting liberals after the verdict. “Time to start capping some leftys,” said the post. “This cannot be fixed by voting."
...
A spokesperson for Truth Social said, “It’s hard to believe that Reuters, once a respected news service, has fallen so low as to publish such a manipulative, false, defamatory and transparently stupid article as this one purely out of political spite.”

All three sites have policies against violent language, and some of the posts were later removed. Representatives of Patriots.Win and Gateway Pundit did not immediately return requests for comment. A Trump spokesperson also did not respond to an email seeking comment.
They're just kidding/trolling right?

Depends on who you talk to. Locals there probably prefer Central WA but for the rest of the state, the cascade curtain is the dividing line. All points east of Ellensburg area are considered Eastern by most.

I’m not a Dem. Similar to the R’s, too many of them care only about themselves rather than community.

Lawfare is a term used by losers when legal matters involving politics don’t go their way. Welcome to a binary system.

Trump is the king of lawfare.

You’ve never left the farm…

After living in Puerto Rico for a few decades, I know what lawfare is and I know what a banana republic looks like

Win or lose … It’s not good
Do you?

The fatal flaw in the GOP’s ‘banana republic’ talking point
But this has never made any sense. Revisiting our earlier coverage, stable democracies that take the rule of law seriously hold criminal suspects accountable — even if they’re politically powerful, and even if they served in government at the highest levels. In fact, on the international stage, this has happened in recent years with some regularity.

Italy prosecuted a former prime minister. France prosecuted a former president and a former prime minister. South Africa prosecuted a former president. South Korea prosecuted a former president. Brazil has prosecuted more than one former president. Israel has prosecuted more than one former prime minister.

Germany prosecuted a former president. Portugal prosecuted a former prime minister. Croatia prosecuted a former prime minister. Argentina prosecuted a former president. Austria prosecuted a former chancellor.

These cases did not lead to violence or threats of violence. The criminal cases were tried without incident. These countries’ political systems persevered just fine, without talk of institutional breakdowns.

As far as Republicans are concerned, should Americans consider each of these countries — advanced, modern democracies, including nuclear powers and NATO members — “banana republics”? Should we see these countries as engaging in law enforcement tactics on par with what “third world” countries do? The answer should be obvious.
...
But much of the wider world has shrugged its shoulders in response to the charges against the Republican. The Daily Beast reported after Trump’s initial indictment, “In the eyes of the world’s media, the indictment of Donald Trump was not the big freaking deal many Americans might expect. Save for a handful of English-language websites and newspapers, the story ranked beneath most regional and local concerns and in more than a handful it was found alongside or just above the coverage of other celebrity news items like the denial of parole to Paralympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius and the Gwyneth Paltrow ski accident trial.”

Around the same time, Secretary of State Antony Blinken participated in a discussion with his NATO counterparts, and he told reporters soon after that none of them brought up the criminal allegations surrounding the former president.

I’m not suggesting that it’s a good thing when a nation’s former chief executive is accused of crimes, but I am suggesting that it’s a relatively common thing in advanced democracies, Republican hysteria notwithstanding.

He shouldn't be allowed to run.

If he wins it would create an unprecedented constitutional crisis. In that situation, we could very well, have a sitting president under multiple felony indictments and, ultimately, a criminal trial. It would grind government to a halt. That's on top of already being a 34-time convicted felon.

I don’t think the Republicans are going to stop her from running, because the system is inherently unfair. It’s a very unfair system.”

He’s guilty of a very, very serious crime. He should not be allowed to run. And just in that respect, I say it’s rigged, because he should never have been allowed to run for the presidency based on what he did with falsification of business records and so many other things.

He’s likely to be under investigation for criminality for a very, very long time to come

We’re going to be tied up in court for the rest of our lives with this deal. He’s not going to win the election, but I’m just saying. If Donald is elected, he will be under protracted criminal investigation likely followed by the trial of a sitting president. This is just what we need.

Current scandals and controversies will continue throughout her presidency and it would be impossible for him to govern.

So the prosecution admitted that the case was about politics by focusing on the election.

Hardly anyone outside political news junkies followed the trial. The biggest clickbait that got the most attention was Daniel’s tawdry details about the sex. Most outside the left will see it as before the 2016 election, hush money to cover up an alleged 2006 affair/bimbo eruption, brought to trial right before the 2024 election. A case all about politics & sex before an election. Stop the presses!

Your points appeal to the left. That’s not where Biden needs the help.
We don’t have criminal campaign laws?

He falsified records to win help win an election. Or, in his vernacular, “steal an election”.

The fact it also helped to confirm his philandering hurts him politically.

That’s all 100% on him.

The victim/sympathy card he’s playing also won’t help him politically as it cuts into his strong leader mythology.

Is it enough to lose the election? I’m not sure. But it doesn’t help him.
So when is the entire 4th estate going on trial? They hid and suppressed negative info on Jojos pathetic example of what a great father he was to steer the election towards idiot Biden
