You know that student loan forgiveness while it sounds good and appeals to the base isn't that simple for reasons I've already pointed out but ...

Let me ask how would it work? How would they handle private loans? The government couldn't "forgive" that loan.

How much of a student's total loans are government and how much is private?

I don't think this is the erase all my student debt panacea that people seem to think it is.
Erasing student loan debt is just wrong on so many levels. While it help some people who really need help, it would help far too many people who simply made bad choices. Like not saving for school, not working while in school, or going to schools they simply couldn't afford. :tothehand:

If you took out 80 large to go get a degree in anthropology or gender studies from a prestigious school then you absolutely need to pay all that money back. Show us how useful your garbage degree from Georgetown is.

Plus why should the person that chooses not to go to college and gets a factory job, becomes a truck driver, works a trade, etc. have to pay more in taxes so their neighbor can get their student loans forgiven.

It's not right.

80 large? Did they go one year? I've had folks apply for mortgages with over $200,000 in student loan debt.

So Bernie’s increase is from Warren’s numbers. The Democratic socialists have hit a ceiling? How many Warren supporters would migrate to Bernie or vice versa?

You could ask the same of Butti and Biden.

Bootyjudge is having a big problem with the minorities. There’s a gay, black minister in Rock Hill and a black city council member who have been trying to drum up support for him in the south. They separately say his homosexuality is the biggest factor as to why blacks aren’t going for him. But he’s also just begun to reach out to the black communities in the south so there is room for improvement.

I want to know what they're going to do for the dumb saps who worked their ass off all through college, took 7 years to graduate, just so they WOULDN'T be saddled with a bunch of debt...or those folks who've already PAID their student loans. I mean, like reparations, how far back and how far reaching is this thing gonna be?

Because my mortgage now identifies as a student loan. :coffee: :coffee:
Hahaha. Well played. I stealing this.

Valid points and I get the personal responsibility issue and the unfairness to those who played by the rules...I really do.

I guess to me it’s like government contractors, many of which are run by “small government”, “conservatives”. Or banks being bailed out.

Everyone talks a good game about limited government while they still waddle up to the trough.

I’m willing to invest in human infrastructure, and bail out people as much as investors and management.

So you have given up on the march to jail bankers as soon as college presidents fall into the same category?

People ARE investors, last time I looked. And investors are people. So where does that leave you?

Oh, “human infrastructure,” eh? Very nice. And how do you get that, eh? By taxing the shit out of the middle classes, and by hangin’ on to outdated kalmunist dogma which perpetuates the political tribalism in our society.

“Oh there you go bringing class into it again”, kalm. ;)

Excellent point about the economics of tribalism. It shouldn’t have to be that way. Both sides of the ideological aisle should honor hard work and innovation driven success and both should have an issue with financial corruption. It’s interesting to me how populism today is viewed by more than a few as a right wing movement.

Bloomberg news declares that during the campaign they won’t do any investigations of or critical editorials of Bloomberg or any of the other democrat candidates, but will investigate & do editorials on Trump. That’s probably the most blatant liberal bias I have ever seen by a major news outlet. On the one hand, at least they admit it.

That’s the end of Bloomberg news. Taibbi had a pretty good piece on it in RS. I figured klam would’ve linked it by now. He’s usually on liberal media bias issues like white on rice

Klam is not that generic. He strikes me as more of a wild rice guy.

This was really stunning to me when it came out.

Whatever think tank is advising him should be fired ... there’s no way to spin it in a way that keeps Bloomberg from folding. They have thousands of journalists who have just been told to not be journalists

I mean, that Bloomberg would not dig hard into Dems comes as no surprise. But they aren’t FOX, CNN, or MSNBC. They at least had the patina of a serious news agency. Now that’s gone.

Imagine if you were an actual investigative journalist who takes your job seriously and your employer has basically told you you aren’t a journalist anymore as long as you work there.
